Dana built a strong connection with my teenage daughter and encouraged her to expand her comfort zone without being pushy. My daughter looked forward to her lessons and felt her confidence and skills improve greatly during her time with Dana. I highly recommend Dana for anyone wishing to build fundamentals of great singing!Jan 21, 2018
Taking voice lessons with Ms. Kephart helped me grow tremendously as both a singer and performer. She is kind, lively, and always willing to experiment new things with me. The lessons were individualized, focused on the specifics that I needed to improve upon so they were efficient and helpful. She gave me a lens into professional singing through the lessons as well. It was a great pleasure working with her!Feb 6, 2018
Dana has been an excellent teacher for my 15 and 13 year olds. My children recently wanted to become more focused on their singing ability in musical theater and Dana has given them the confidence they needed. She is great!Jun 4, 2018Verified

I would highly recommend Dana. She’s professional and was accommodating when my daughter missed a lesson due to being sick. She would show interest in making up that missed lesson at a later date.Jan 19, 2018
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?Students can take half-hour, forty-five-minute, or hour-long lessons. My current rates are: -$30/30 minute lesson -$45/45 minute lesson -$60/60 minute lesson. These rates are competitive in our area, for a teacher with my level of education and expertise.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? When I meet a new student, the first thing I do is take a few minutes to talk about their musical background and goals. Then, I listen to their singing voice by going through simple vocal exercises, and I begin to assess strengths and areas for improvement. From there, I can customize vocal exercises and find repertoire for the student to work through so they can start to build their skills!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I hold a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance and Music Education from the Hartt School, and a Master's degree in voice/Early Music from the Longy School of Music. I earned a pK-12 CT music teacher certification during my undergraduate study, and a Teaching Artist certification during my graduate study. I have also done training in Contemporary Commercial Music Styles (essentially non-classical styles) at the Shenandoah Conservatory CCM Pedagogy Institute.
