Introduction: **I am not a college counselor — I do college essay coaching only. This means I won’t develop your top-level strategy. I’ll just support with the execution of essays (as well as test prep).**
I have been working as a private academic tutor and mentor for 15 years -- but this is my first time advertising my services publicly (I have worked through tutoring companies, but now, you will have the benefit of working with me online without the agency fees!). I am a graduate of the University of Oxford, where I received a master’s degree and was published internationally. I also received my BA from Wake Forest University, graduating Summa Cum Laude and in the top three percent of my class.
I am passionate about teaching and uplifting my students – motivating teens to approach school (and life!) with confidence. I have helped countless students to boost their grades, increase their test scores, and get into their dream college programs. Recent students are attending Duke, Berkeley, Penn and USC (film). I've had ACT students increase their scores by 10+ points, and I enjoy the exploratory process of college essay mentorship.
My approach is individualized and holistic. Each student processes information differently, and the key to success is finding a way to make learning an engaging and fun process.
I have experience working with students facing executive functioning challenges; I am also well-versed in different learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic). I have a knack for helping students to overcome psychological barriers, particularly in relation to fears surrounding standardized testing and math.
In my free time, I enjoy writing, painting, singing, dancing and spending time in nature -- ideally close to the ocean!
