A Dog's Life did a great job taking care of my cat! I was a little anxious because this was my first time leaving her alone (she has been with me less than six months)... but thanks to text messages and a note left upon my return detailing how my cat had behaved, i was relieved and impressed. I wont ever worry about pet-sitting next time i go out of town - I will contact Stephanie as soon as possible!

Stephanie has watched my baby Ace (a 67 lb Boxer) a couple of times now. He absolutely loves her! I know that when she is watching him, he is being taken care of just as if he were one of her own. You can tell that she loves animals and what she does for a living!

Thank you Melanie! I love Mr. Ace, he is such a fun guy to be around. We always have a great time hanging out and playing together!

Q&A

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I just received my professional pet sitter certification from Pet Sitters International this year. I attend training webinars offered by Pet Sitters International regularly.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Feeding and daily care of dogs, cats, birds, and other small non-reptile animals, horses and chickens. Dog walks. General cleaning up after pets as necessary. Bringing in mail, paper, watering plants.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Giving proper notice before requesting service. We know that emergencies come up that can't be helped but please if you are planning a trip remember to plan for your pet sitter as well and call us well in advance. We usually book first come first serve so calling well in advance will usually assure a client a spot. Also if this is the first time using a sitter, setting up in advance is necessary to be able to meet the client and pet well in advance.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
That this is a professional business. It is not like hiring the neighborhood kid down the street to be responsible for your animals. We take our job seriously and we are experienced in what we do. Most of us are trained in some manner of animal care. Caring for your pet is a responsibility we don't take lightly.
