Introduction: About Chef Sandy Gibilisco
Blessed with an Italian heritage, I fondly recall family memories where we gathered around the table, sharing in each other’s life journeys while savoring memorable, delicious food. I’ve loved experimenting and creating with food my entire life! I made this passion “official” by earning my bachelor’s degree from Berea College where I majored in Food Management, Nutrition, and Food Science. I went on to attend Johnson and Wales University and The Culinary Institute of America.
I enjoyed over 28 years in the foodservice industry where I worked as a Research and Development Chef, developing highly successful food concepts and menu innovations for regional and national restaurant chains. My focus on offering unique in-home entertaining options with Gather Around the Boards is a natural extension of my training and experience. I love how it allows me to partner with the customer, creating something special to impress and entertain their guests and families!

As a professional chef, former catering director and personal caterer (and lifelong hostess), I find my greatest joy and fulfillment in extending hospitality and entertaining. Long before boards were a trend, I’ve always arranged menu items together on serving platters for formal and family-style dining. These arrangements are visually appetizing and easier to serve. And it’s true that people eat first with their eyes!
