Scott handled a hole in the door a renter damaged as well as plaster work to the corner of a wall in bedroom and fixed a blind. The door repair was great while the wall repair is a bit gloppy not uniform and textured like the wall was before. What to watch out for is Scott stated one thing on the phone and then sent a payment request for the estimate amount. I want to be clear here I have no issues paying for what was done but the manner to which business was conducted was in my opinion inappropriate. Scott told me his estimate was the absolute most it would be with the replacement of a door if needed etc. He stated " he could probably do all the work for 250". In my experience an estimate is exactly that. It could be less or more. He was at my home less than two hours and charged 485 which was the estimate price. I called him confused because I remember what we discussed and he called what I said he said "hearsay" and defended the price because it would have been quicker to replace the door. He alluded to how far away my home was from other projects essentially making it seem that I also paid him for his travel time which was never discussed in the estimate. Did he say he would "knock" 75 off the price after I confronted him about the change in price yes but only because I complained not because he felt he had misrepresented himself. He acted as if we never had the conversation about it being in the 250 range. He knew this was an insurance claim as well. Was his work on our door good yes would I hire him again no.
