Introduction: My biggest "secret"? Easy.
I soared through school without opening a book. I was the "genius" with the high IQ who never needed to study (except for Math, which I readily admit is my No. 1 nemesis).
I have already developed, own and run a freelance copy editing/proofreading/copy writing company, The Write Stuff.
But I want to expand my inherent knowledge to tutoring. As satisfying (and time-freeing) as it was acing exams without the opening a book, I got bored. So I spent hours and hours helping my peers understand the homework--from first grade through graduate school.
Academic qualifications:
a) At the ripe age of 18, I graduated from Boca Raton High School in 2002. GPA: 4.75 (weighted due to Advanced Placement "AP" courses).
b) I packed the car and moved to the dorms at the University of Miami from 2002-2006. I received two Bachelor of Science degrees: One in Print Journalism, the other in Political Science. I graduated (clutching my dual degrees) in May, 2006, at the age of 22. GPA: 3.97
c) Still being tugged by this insatiable force to learn, grow and gain more knowledge, I immediately returned to the University of Miami after my Bachelors graduation. From August 2006 to December, 2007, I received my Masters in Public Administration (MPA) with a specific focus on Nonprofit Management at the ripe age of 23. GPA: 3.98
Currently, I have my freelance business, but I miss the feeling of helping my peers (from grade school to my Masters) feel that lightbulb go off when I've explained something to them and they understand a concept for the first time. My way of tutoring is through stern but friendly patience. Some children learn best from visual, some audio, etc. I try to adjust my tutoring to individual needs. I'm intelligent, patient, and will stay with you or your child until you're comfortable with the material.
Subjects I'm comfortable in tutoring: (From Elementary to University-level)
Government
Political Science
Physical Science (if instructions are given)
Social Studies
Critical Thinking
History
English- reading, writing
I also took 33 worth of credits in random elective courses ranging from Anthropology to The History of Rock and Roll. I'm confident (as long as it's not Math above Pre-Algebra--and if it IS Math, I just need the instructions to pick up on it quickly), I can effectively tutor in essentially any subject.
PLUS, I like kids and they seem to like me. Although high schoolers are tough sometimes. I'll get through to them. :)
If interested in my services, PLEASE contact me via Thumbtack below. I am available to tutor 7 days a week, with 2pm to 8pm time slots. Hope to hear from you!
