Dear Task Rabbit, I am writing to formally file a complaint regarding a deeply unsatisfactory experience I had with the cleaning service Pure Wave contracted by you, originally booked through TaskRabbit on Saturday, Aug 30th. Not only did the service fall far below basic professional standards, but the conduct of your staff both during and after the appointment was inappropriate, unprofessional, and deceptive. To begin, I was charged over $65 per hour for what was advertised as a “standard cleaning” service. What I received was the worst cleaning experience I’ve ever encountered and more expensive than traditional “deep cleaning” services. The cleaner arrived over 30 minutes late, citing parking issues, but failed to communicate proactively about the delay. Once onsite, the cleaner was ill-prepared and failed to meet even basic expectations: All mirrors and glass surfaces were left streaked and foggy. Bedrooms were left unswept The cleaner had to be asked to move personal items (such as toothbrushes and hairbrushes) before spraying surfaces with cleaning fluids—basic preparation that should be second nature in professional cleaning. Corners of rooms were ignored, especially behind large plants, and plant pots were not dusted. When I asked about cobweb removal, I was told it wasn’t included in a “simple cleaning”—a basic task one would reasonably expect to be covered. Cut corners were everywhere, both literally and figuratively. Additionally, I was told two cleaners would arrive, yet only one showed up—a non-English-speaking worker who spent much of the time on the phone with her manager (as documented and recorded on our security cameras). To my surprise and discomfort, the cleaner also appeared to be wearing an ankle monitor, something I was not informed about beforehand. The situation was further worsened by the unethical communication practices from Pure Wave company: Before the appointment, I began receiving unsolicited texts from an unknown number, heavily soliciting cleaning services and negotiating pricing at $210; cheaper than TaskRabbit’s listed quoted rate. No name was given, and the sender never identified themselves. When I inquired via the TaskRabbit platform if these texts were from Pure Wave company, they confirmed it was them, yet refused to honor the discounted rate they had themselves offered via text. This kind of bait-and-switch pricing is not only misleading but also highly unprofessional and deceptive. After the cleaning was completed, I showed the cleaner proof of payment, and yet 45 minutes later, I began receiving harassing messages from someone calling themselves her manager, demanding a screenshot of the payment confirmation. I stated clearly that I was dissatisfied with the service and did not wish to be contacted further. Despite this, unsolicited and aggressive messages continued, forcing me to block the number entirely. This experience has left me feeling taken advantage of and completely disrespected—not only as a paying customer but as someone who expected a minimum level of professionalism, cleanliness, and transparency. I am requesting the following: A partial or full refund for the substandard service delivered. Immediate assurance that no further contact will be made to my phone or any other communication channel outside the official booking platform. If I do not receive a timely and satisfactory resolution within 7 business days, I will have no choice but to: Leave detailed public reviews outlining this experience with pictures and the recordings from the service date. Report Pure Wave’s conduct to TaskRabbit’s trust & safety team; File a complaint with the appropriate consumer protection agency. I strongly encourage you to address this matter professionally and take responsibility for what has clearly been a serious failure in service delivery and business ethics. Sincerely, Mrs Steiner
