Introduction: Training Locations: Illinois Chicagoland / Indiana My name is Gerard and I have mastered the techniques to training dogs used by body language and energy to communicate with dogs. I understands how to teach new behaviors through luring, shaping, capturing or molding and have mastered the behavioral principles of operant conditioning. I have studied positive reinforcement dog training techniques as their primary training tool, which allows your dog to learn the desired behaviors while keeping that unique spark that makes your dog so special to you. Most of my customers require 2-3 training sessions because my methods are easy for dogs to understand and learn quickly. I don’t do group lessons because they aren’t as effective. 10 dogs in a class is extremely distracting for your dog, especially puppy’s! Puppies can’t stay focused for more that 1 second. I don’t do this for the money, I do it for the results and the smiles I enjoy seeing on my clients face. My private lesson is hands on training to bridge that language barrier gap between you and your close companion. My partner Peekaboo (Patterdale Terrier Mix in my photos) work as a team to rehabilitate other dogs and change their old way of thinking. From anxiety, aggression, to insecurities. I sent my pup to My Dog Rehab due to his anxious and rowdy behavior. I received daily texts and videos across the week to show his progression. I am amazed at how well my dog was trained! His anxiety level has dropped tremendously and he listens to my commands! I am so happy I sent him to My Dog Rehab. It was a great experience for me and my pup!

I searched for a dog trainer for my 6 month old German Rottweiler for a few weeks. I did extensive research and finally decided to go with Gerard. It was the BEST decision! My dog left with issues of anxiety, no socializing skills, biting the ankles and shoes, and not knowing to leave items alone upon command. She returned and all my issues were corrected along with new techniques. Gerard sent videos and photos during the week my puppy was with him. When she returned, Gerard gave me some great one on one training. He also recommended some awesome food and treat devices along with a new great leash. I couldn’t have been more blown away when I saw the great behavior my dog displayed when she returned. My entire family is so happy! Thanks Gerard!

Gerard is amazing! His insights into dog behavior is incredible. We learned that we were unintentionally encouraging bad behavior and even anxiety with our two dogs. Gerard taught us how to prevent our dogs from jumping up on people and to stop pulling on their leash. He even got our dogs to stop begging at the table. Gerard did a great job educating us on what our dogs need and what their behaviors mean. It is now up to us to continue reinforcing calm respectful behavior in our dogs. This was the best 3 hours of training we have ever experienced. I would highly recommend Gerard to ANYONE who has a dog.

Gerard did an amazing job with my barky Pomeranian. I rescued Mellie years ago and could never get a handle on her barking, and few other behavioral quirks. Gerard observed me on my own as I am everyday with Mellie then stepped in and provided the right tools. He does amazing with dogs and training people as well!! So glad we found him, a true dog whisperer.

We have a 4 month old Golden Retriever and this is our first puppy as most of our dogs have been older rescues so we needed some help training. We contacted Gerard and set up a 3 session in house training program. From the first minister Gerard arrived he was extremely calm, professional and immediately started observing our puppy, our family and our situation from the second he walked in the door. His calm and knowledgeable approach was amazing. He taught us WHY he was doing the things he was doing instead of just the HOW to do it. The WHY was critically important for us a puppy ow era to understand what we were trying to teach our puppy. Understanding that after the three sessions s really gave us the tools and confidence that we are doing the right things to creat an even better environment for our new addition. How did you get started doing this type of work?
After watching the show called the dog whisperer. I was absolutely amazed the way he would train other dogs. At first I was very skeptical. But once I used the techniques with my dog and saw the results and I was truly amazed! I just had to start my own business to educate people and dogs and create that special bond between us humans and our pets. I wanted to close that language barrier we have between our pets to understand one another what our needs and wants are to be happy together.
What types of customers have you worked with?
From puppy training to extremely aggressive dog training. I’ve worked with all kinds of dogs with all sorts of problems. No dog is too much for me to handle.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
If you go to a big store like PetSmart to train your dog. They will be looking at the clock and have to stop at exactly when the lesson ends. I work for myself, and make sure I finish the training I’m in the middle of doing and go over time at no extra charge to my clients. I put my heart and sole into it and train them with love and care.
