Anyone that has planned or organized a wedding knows how stressful, demanding, and nerve-wracking it is. Chef Tom Ford and sunside catering made the process simpler, and I am going to share our experience with you. For those that find my review too long, the bottom line up front is that you should hire him because of his professionalism, experience, and quality. The guests at our wedding asked for his business card to cater future events and personally told us it was the best food they ever had at a wedding. On with the review. Sunside catering was one of five other caterers we were considering. I spoke with all of them to discuss what my wife and I expected. As you can imagine with wedding planning, I was already stressed and like everyone else, wanted the day to be perfect with the perfect meal. All the caterers sounded swell, but my conversation with Chef Tom Ford convinced me he would go the extra mile for our day. In my first chat with Chef Tom Ford, I remember him distinctly saying "This is your day, and I am going to do everything in my power to make sure it is exactly how you want it." That was when I knew that I found the perfect caterer for our wedding. The nerves went away, a foundation of trust was established, and we began the process. Never having to plan a wedding, I frequently called and e-mailed Chef Tom Ford with questions about how much food to have, how many drinks, would this be a good idea, would that be a terrible idea; every detail of the wedding you can bet I had a question for Chef Tom Ford about it. His experience shined through at this point. He shared his previous experiences at other events, what worked, what didn't work, and in the end, helped us make a decision. Not once did I feel like he decided for us. And again, I want to reiterate that throughout this entire process, Chef Tom Ford reminded us "This is your day, and I am going to do everything in my power to make sure it is exactly how you want it." So, the wedding day came, the plans were set, and now it was time for the execution. Chef Tom Ford and his staff arrived at our venue the exact time he said they would. I shook all their hands and thanked them for catering our wedding. Our brief chat did not last more than five minutes, and they were off to prepare for the event. With the ceremony, pictures, and greetings taking up all of our time we did not get to interact again with Chef Tom Ford until dinner where he brought my wife and me our food and offered his services if anything else was needed. We thanked him and began to chow down on the only meal we had that day. And boy was it a good one! My mouth is watering at this moment as I write this review thinking about the food. I wish I could tell you more, but on your wedding day I assure you, you won't have time to try everything. Chef Tom Ford understands how busy the bride and groom are, so he packed us plenty of leftovers which we thoroughly enjoyed while recovering from our hangover. I made it a point to asks our 103 guests what they thought about the food and I would love to share their comments with you. "Oh my gosh, I must've eaten a whole rack of lambs to myself." "Wedding food typically sucks, but your guys' wedding food was the best I ever had." And my favorite comment, which came from my mother "It was perfect." I understand that this review was lengthy. I am already well over 600 words, but even then I don't believe I did Sunside Catering and Chef Tom Ford the justice they deserve. If you are on the edge about hiring Chef Tom Ford and Sunside Catering, just remember: It's your day, and he will do everything in his power to make sure it is exactly how you want it.Jan 19, 2018Verified

My wife & I were married in the Santa Rosa Beach area on Seagrove Beach this past May. Being from Connecticut, we had to go in blind choosing caterers, florists and bakers. Thumbtack was perfect for us. We looked at many caterers but Tom Ford @ Sunside Catering was the first & he was the first to get back to us. He worked with us for weeks to get exactly what we were looking for. He was professional, on time & his food was outstanding. Our family & friends numbering about 20 staying at the Beach House were very impressed with Tom & his helper. They could not stop talking about the food....especially since we had leftovers the following day. He even cleaned up the place spotless when he was done after a good four hours or more of hard work and would not allow any of us to help clean up telling us that THIS IS OUR DAY. - What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?We are very fair in a competetive field. We maintain high standards of food quality. We use fresh, locally sourced seafood, produce etc. when at all possible. I can promise that our prices are as good or better than our competition. I can explain much more when contacted.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?Find out the customer's needs - location of event, date of event, number of guests to feed, budget available. What type of foods are being considered? Answer each question in detail.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have been engaged in the culinary field for almost 40 years. I have owned Italian restaurants, a Chinese restaurant, several bars with full menu, a pizzeria, breakfast/lunch restaurant. Several fine dining establishments. Each time I had a partner or 2. In 2009 we (my wife and I alone) started Sunside Catering and we have been extremely happy making people extremely happy!!!
