Introduction: Ethnic Dance Expressions is an established and respected dance studio in North Central Florida. We are reliable and not transient. Sallamah cared enough about being a teacher to actually return to college at 36 to earn a degree in dance. She teaches a very classy style of belly dance. Women can feel confortable at EDE knowing they are learning authentic technique from various countries and that the venues and costuming will be appropriate and tasteful. You will also get a good workout in your belly dance class. My greatest pleasure comes from helping women transform and find their inner strengths and beauty. Each woman brings something essential to the table that only she possesses. More importantly, women need to like and respect themselves. Part of this comes from accepting who you are and making the most of all your positive assets while minimizing any that make you feel uncomfortable or bad about yourself. Women who accomplish something special in their lives, and see the end results, gain confidence that spills over into all aspect of their lives. Everyone around them feels this and gains respect for them. Learning to belly dance is an very positive endeavor.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I try to attend dance seminars and keep abreast of the latest trends via instructional and performance videos and even YouTube. Most importantly, I work everyday on my own technique and try to develop methods for better teaching. I also read and do research that helps me understand the culture of the people and why they dance as they do.
What types of customers have you worked with?
Besides teaching beginner through troupe belly dance classes, Ethnic Dance Expressions performs at a variety of events from art festivals to public schools to private to nursing facilities along with expos and home shows, private birthday, anniversary and retirement parties, charity fund raisers, weddings and bridal showers, and more. We make sure our students get the chance to perform as well. We have an annual Hafla Night and our Veils & Visions Revue for our students and troupe dancers. Our students begin performing when they feel confident and know the group dance routines.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
When you are looking to book performers for your event, please give us at least two weeks notice to get costuming, logistics, music and dances arranged. We can provide you with a better performance. For people looking for belly dance classes, we offer a variety of styles of belly dance and our goal is to give you the essentials so you can do any style of dancing you want.
