Introduction
$25 for 1 to 1.5 hours (even most young kids are totally fine going for 1.5 hours). I’ve taught school clubs, with Jacksonville Scholastic chess clubs, as well as private students. While I’ve never pushed my own daughters to play, they do enjoy it (they took 3rd in an 8th grade section when they were in 5th grade). I use a few different standard curriculums, but tend to go faster and always supplement it with lots of puzzles, game analysis, and stories. -- NOTE: I just mention online teaching because I occasionally play online games with my LOCAL students if they can't meet outdoors (everyone's being very careful due to COVID being so bad here). So we go over the game or a few of their games and talk about their thinking and planning.

Joe has close to (or maybe in excess of?) two decades of teaching experience and he has been passionate about chess for even longer than that. I know a few stronger players than Joe, but few better communicators . If you are looking for an entertaining and skilled chess coach for your child--particularly for help developing their tactical or attacking skills--I would highly recommend talking to Joe and inquiring if he may be the right fit.

I had been playing chess for a few years, but had no idea how little I actually knew. He improved every part of my game--openings, middle game (his tactics and attacks are on par with any Master), and end games. He has a great story about how he learned the concept of King's Opposition, which he uses to teach the concept. We met at the Bold Bean, and often he would stay and play with me for 2-3 hours at no extra charge just because he loves the game and teaching.
