Introduction: I have a strong belief that people can be fit and healthy at any age. At 77 years old I know what it feels like to have those aches and pains when you're over 50. I've lived with them and worked through them. My personal experience allows me to create programs for all my clients that are relevant and reflective of my knowledge of senior health and aging issues. My approach to exercise is grounded in my personal experience as a senior and a trainer for over 30 years as a gym owner, teacher and coach. My clients stay with me because I care about them. Each and every session is about you, the person. Developing a relationship and understanding what your needs, goals, and objectives are paramount in my training programs. Programs are designed to train each client in all components of health and fitness including functional, strength, agility, coordination, metabolic and nutrition using HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), suspension training, strength, and agility. Familiarity with the psychology of aging is an important aspect of being a successful trainer of mature adults. As a senior myself, I have firsthand knowledge of what we experience as we grow older. I have also studied the effects of aging in all phases in great detail and have an in-depth understanding of the aging process and a recognition of the desires, goals, and aspirations of mature adults. I also work closely with my clients and their doctors to facilitate their post-rehab needs.

As a bit of background, we are a married couple in our 60s. We love food, especially at restaurants. Despite availability of fitness centers thru the years, we’ve never before been able to find the willpower to stay with a self-made exercise plan. About a year ago, we were lucky to find Tom Marbell, our Senior Fitness trainer who is himself a senior, and really understands our struggles when it comes to motivation and the challenges associated with aging; e.g. with achy joints, reduced flexibility, and the occasional surgery. Tom has changed our lives in a very positive way. We meet with him twice a week for a personalized couple’s session. He coaches us through all of our exercises. He selects weights and activities appropriate for each of us, as laughing and groaning together and side-by-side, we work through our very thorough exercise program. We like going together because it makes us realize how much work the other is putting in and that now is the time to get serious about getting back into shape as we are both getting older more quickly than we expected. Tom Marbell has an amazing way of keeping both of us having fun, and working at our personal best without making it a competition with the other. We highly recommend that you give it a try. Sometimes as we age , its not the golf equipment or the golf ball. ITS OUR FLEXIBILITY... I hate admitting this but in my 40`s I hit the golf ball between 150 yds - 155 yds with my 7 iron. As I hit age 58 this year , I was only hitting the golf ball between 135 yds - 140 yds with my 7 iron.. I have been on a strict lifestyle change for a 6 month commitment to loose 40 lb`s and get back in great health. While hiring the best personal trainer (Tom Marbell )what I am finding out with his professional training progam that he designed for me is that I am getting back my flexibility and building up muscle tone and etc and strenghtening my core which is building up my club head speed. In just 5 weeks with Tom Marbell I am down from the 220lb start to 199 lb , but one of the other great things is I am now hitting my 7 iron between 145 yds - 150 yds. He is getting my flexibility back. Tom has trained me for about 8 months and helped me tremendously with getting my weight under control. He designed an exercise program just for me and was always punctual, friendly and professional. When I started thinking about working out with a trainer again after so many years, I wanted someone who understood the changes that come with age. I was extremely pleased to discover that you understood some of my limitations, but you also challenged me and you keep giving me that little push to do more. I was worried about the "no pain, no gain" mentality of trainers from years ago and was very pleased to find out that you not only don't prescribe to that mentality, but you made sure that my workouts were strenuous, but not painful. You have helped me not only with strength and general toning, but also helped me with my problem of balance. I feel better, walk better and everyone comments on how much better I look, after only a month of workouts. I would be happy to recommend your training sessions to anyone.     Pricing varies as to the type time and location. usually between $35.00 and $50.00 per session.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

    When I meet a new client the first thing I try to do is get an understanding of their needs and goals. Building a rapport with my clients is of utmost importance as well as having empathy for their particular situation. Then working together to design a program will stimulate them and is tailored just for them with achievable goals.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

    In order to be a Certified Personal Trainer, Continuing Education is mandatory. I am an ACE certified Personal Trainer as well as a FAI certified group exercise trainer. I also have specialty certifications in Senior Fitness, Brains and Balance and am a TRX qualified instructor. I've also completed courses in High Intensity Interval Training and have CPR and AED qualifications from American Heart Association.
