FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing depends on the size and style of the piece, fabric selection, cushion needs, and the amount of detail involved. I offer a range of quality fabrics and can bring samples to your home so we can choose the best option for your space. I’m also happy to check my suppliers for better pricing on a fabric you’ve already found. An in-home consultation fee may apply, depending on location and project scope. Once I see photos and understand the details, I can provide a more accurate estimate and explain any fabric, labor, travel, or additional project costs up front.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
For an initial estimate, please include clear photos of your furniture or project with your message. This helps us determine the scope, fabric needs, and whether the piece is a good candidate for slipcovers. Once you’re ready to move forward, we schedule a home visit to review fabrics, take measurements, and discuss details. We typically group home visits 1–2 days per month so we can serve clients efficiently while keeping projects moving in the workroom. The same people who measure and discuss the project are also the ones fabricating it, which helps avoid miscommunication and keeps the details consistent from start to finish. In most cases, your furniture can stay in your home while we create the slipcovers. Occasionally, unusually shaped pieces, such as barrel chairs or wingback chairs, may need to come to the workroom for a pin fitting to achieve the best result. We also offer window treatments & bedding.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 35+ years of hands-on experience in the sewing and soft furnishings industry. My training began in alteration and upholstery workrooms, where I learned directly from skilled professionals. Over the years, I’ve continued to refine my techniques through custom slipcover, drapery, and bedding projects. I also stay connected with other experienced workroom professionals, continuing to learn through shared techniques, problem-solving, and each new project.
