FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Tuition for lessons is $200 per month, which reserves one weekly lesson for your child. This is an annualized fee, which means you are paying for each year of piano lessons in monthly installments. This includes the understanding that the number of lessons you have will vary depending on the calendar, holidays, etc. I will teach every day except observed national holidays and public school’s Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks and a one-week vacation during the summer. Throughout the year, you will average four lessons per month. Please note that I do not hold lesson times for students who take a summer break, as teaching is my full-time job. Students who take a break are essentially moved to my waiting list for the fall. However, if a student chooses to take a break for the summer, they may elect to continue to pay tuition to hold their spot. Others take the chance that their lesson time will be filled during the summer.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I grew up in a performing arts family and began studying piano and close up magic at an early age. At 14, I began my formal voice training with William Seale at the College-Conservatory of Music in Cincinnati, Ohio. By 20, I was studying with renowned voice teacher Andrew White (teacher of Metropolitan Opera legend Sherill Milnes). Following, I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Music Education with a minor in Public Speaking in 1998. During my undergraduate years, I won several singing competitions and sang with the Cincinnati Opera in productions of Otello, The Flying Dutchman, and Rigoletto. I graduated with highest honors and received a scholarship to attend the University of Cincinnati College of Law. Before earning my Juris Doctor in 2001, I taught piano and voice for over five years, helping prepare students for careers in opera and musical theater. Upon finishing law school, I practiced law for eight years, specializing in Federal Securities, real estate, and contract litigation. In 2010, I returned to my creative roots and am thrilled to have my own music studio! I find great joy in witnessing those moments of breakthrough, encouraging students through challenges and equipping them with the tools needed to reach their full potential.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
I would tell potential customers to make sure they see videos of a teacher's students actually performing! I'm amazed that someone would hire a teacher without this type of due diligence. Ask for proof, not promises!
