My name is Flavia Leite. I am a math tutor that specializes in teaching children from first to eighth grade. I began tutoring when I was a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Florida. I have been tutoring for about 8 years.
I enjoy helping students learn math, and the one-on-one teaching environment that private lessons afford. I believe one-on-one tutoring is a great complement to classroom and home-schooling instruction and can make a huge difference for students.

AVAILABILITY: I am usually available to tutor from 9 am to 2 pm. I have young children of my own, which makes it difficult for me to tutor after 3 pm.
I can go to your house, we can meet in a public place such as a library or a coffee shop, or you can come to my location.
PRICING: Price per hour depends on how long I have to drive to get to your location. If you are interested in my services, feel free to reach out for a quote.

I first contacted Flavia for assistance tutoring my daughter in math.
Before this, she was struggling, feeling self conscious, and doubting her intelligence. Now her grades have gone up and she's proud of her performance. My daughter says that the way in which Flavia explains the lessons makes much more sense than the way it was explained in the classroom.
We were so impressed with Flavia's teaching that we added on tutoring for my son as well!
He has been wanting to learn Portuguese so that he can speak with his Brazilian friends at school. Flavia's lesson is fun and engaging. He's proud to be learning a second language.
Now, we are planning to add a little extra tutoring time each week for FSA test prep.
Flavia has been a a fantastic to work with. She has fostered self-confidence in my children and made learning enjoyable.

Flavia has a passion for what she does. Her teaching skills are incomparable. She is AMAZING, patient, and looks for ways to bring the lesson of learning a new language (for me) or math techniques, as she also teaches my daughter in pre-algebra, to complete clarity and with ease.

Factors that affect the quote:
- Whether you come to my location or I go to yours
- How far you live
- Length of the tutoring session
(better hourly rate for longer sessions -- 2 or more hours)
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin tutoring by checking what the students need help with. I then provide step-by-step instructions on how to solve the math problem. Next, I explain whether there are different ways to find the solution to math problems and how to evaluate the plausibility of the answers.
I then let students try solving math problems on their own, which allows me to check their understanding of the content. If necessary, I explain again and provide more examples.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been a private math tutor for 7 years. I started to tutor math because math has been my favorite subject since third grade, and because I enjoy teaching.
