Caryn is an exceptional mentor and a beautiful person, absolutely wonderful to work with! Her love for music and her students is a great inspiration and motivation. She has and continues to help me tremendously to achieve what I have dreamed of for many years- to be able to achieve professional vocal skills. In only a few lessons' time, she has taught me to be able to transform the quality of the sound my voice produces and inspired me through her teachings to continue to work hard on pursuing my musical dream. Thank you, Caryn, and I look forward to our next lesson!

Dyce is a great instructor, I took lessons from him for about a year and a half and went from not owning an electric guitar to playing live gigs.

Working with Scott has been a phenomenal experience for me. My reading, comprehension, finger speed and overall musicianship has improved and is literally improving everyday. His ability to simpify very complex concepts has worked extremely well for me and I think it would work for anyone else. Lee Green

Grant from Gannon Studios was delightful to work with from the first phone interview, through the wedding, reception, and with his detailed communication and follow up following the event. My husband and I waited until the weekend prior to decide that we might want to hire a DJ. We had created a playlist and planned to have a friend start and stop the music for us, but it was getting too complicated. We reached out to our event space coordinator who recommended a couple of DJ’s of which Grant was one. We interviewed three DJ’s and upon our first phone call with Grant knew he was the right DJ for our wedding. He was friendly, made good suggestions about things we didn’t even think of for the reception, and asked questions to help us develop the perfect playlist. Grant supplied the lighting as well. He even worked with us on his fee due to the last-minute scheduling and knowing that we were in a bind. Throughout the week leading up to the wedding, Grant communicated with us several times to make sure all the start and stop times were identified. He also helped us select the perfect songs for the first dance, the mothers dance, and the ambient dinner music. Grant was fantastic and was able to get even the non-dancers on the floor with everyone dancing by the last dance. I would highly recommend Grant for your events and we will hire him again for our next party.

If you have the opportunity to study with Keelan Dimick PLEASE take it. Outside of his infectiously positive attitude and kind heart, he is also an INCREDIBLE piano teacher. I can't recommend him highly enough and feel so lucky to be studying with him. I look forward to my lessons every week and after trying MANY teachers finally found someone who I feel is the BEST!!! Also I feel it is important to note that he can teach all styles and is extremely accomplished. I have been lucky to see him play live over the past few years and am in awe of his playing...trust me, try him and you will not regret it:)

As an event planner I have worked with a lot of entertainers. The Horizons Band is very likely the best, most versatile band we’ve ever used. They provided the music for a corporate beachside reception, and the music was perfect! Calypso, Jimmy Buffett, reggae, Beach Boys, and even the top 40 dance music, they were everything we asked for and more. We’ll definitely be contacting them next time we’re in South Florida.

I,'ve been trying to teach myself to play guitar for 8 years now, just bits and pieces of a lot of songs, but after taking lessons from Andy for the last 2 month's I can almost play 40 songs all the way thru, and getting ready to put a Band together, I couldn't have done it without Andy. He is an awesome teacher, very easy to work with, I would recommend taking lessons from Andy, if you want to take your guitar playing to the next level.

    About

We play the role of the wedding ceremony officiant. Do you see them as traditional or progressive, religious or secular? Many ceremonies strictly follow cultural traditions while others may be infused with a mix of elements with roots from various backgrounds. Whatever direction you see your ceremony playing out, finding the right wedding ceremony officiant will be the key to a flawless delivery. At WeddingWire, we realize that wedding officiants do more than assist you in exchanging vows. Wedding officiants are given the unique opportunity to elaborate on the love that you share and the commitment that you are making. Good wedding officiants offer background insight into the meaning behind the traditions being lived out and give a sense of direction to the path that the two of you are choosing to explore together. At Franny and Kevin the Flutist, we provide live entertainment. Our dance puppet shows are a sure bet. We also have our 6-feet tall Pink Panther who dances away with Franny as Tinkerbell assists in the trick shows. Most of our shows consist of a marionette variety show performed and hosted by "Tinkerbell and Franny" who presents various musical acts, including clowns, puppets, characters, etc. Our show consists of a marionette variety show performed by two people. We come complete with a stage, lighting and sound to your location. The show is hosted by "Tinkerbell and Franny" who presents various musical acts, including clowns, ducks and perform puppet shows for country clubs, nursing homes, birthday parties, preschools, day cares, camps, fundraisers and numerous other organizations and use muppet-style puppets, including TV and movie characters that the kids at the party already recognize, not random "marionettes." In addition, our officiants for weddings have a special gift for speaking at length about every aspect of a union allowing a ceremony to last for hours. Perhaps, this is exactly what you are looking for, or possibly you are hoping to find a wedding officiant with a knack for delivering a special ceremony that is short and sweet. The truth is that the ceremony itself is the central and most special event of the day, and finding the perfect wedding officiant to deliver it is nonnegotiable. That is why we are an incredible resource for wedding officiants.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

        What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

        • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
        • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
        • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
