FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
From the first time I picked up the camera, it was like magic truly. I looked through the lens and saw everything just like a painting. Then when I could take a photograph and have an instant piece of art that I did not have to spend weeks painting, I was hooked! Once I photographed my first wedding, I knew this was where I wanted to focus all my energy. Being a part of something so special, the most important day in two people's lives, was amazing to me. Everyone is always happy. Everyone is always fixed up and dressed to look the best they ever have. I get to photograph beautiful people full of love and emotion and make them cry and shout with joy from my photos. I couldn't have done anything better!
- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I had a wedding where we were getting slammed by storms from a Tropical Storm hitting nearby. This changed the flow of the day and what the bride had planned for photographs. So we had to improvise. She wanted to head to the mall next to the church for some carousel photos, which was different for a wedding...photos at the mall...hmmm. But as a wedding photographer you have to be able to adapt to your surroundings and the circumstances of the day. We got her carousel photos and then I got some amazing portraits that you could never in a million years guess were taken of the couple in the mall! At the end of the event we ventured out into the rain and I got the most amazing romantic photo of a bride and groom in the rain. So I am very proud that I gave them outstanding amazing portraits and did not let the weather interfere with their day!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
You need to see a full portfolio from whole weddings they have done. Many photographers get some good shots and they always display their best work. But is the quality of their work consistent through an event? Wedding photography takes the skill of a journalist, a portrait photographer, landscape and architecture, as well as like a sports - action photographer. You don't just want someone who can only take one type of photograph. You also don't want someone who gets 20 great shots out of the day. A full day wedding usually should have in the range of 800-1200 great images. You deserve to have a complete photographic account telling the story of your day. If you hire us you will have too many photographs to choose from and you may end up with a house that is wallpapered with wedding photos!
