I have gone to be treated by Colleen first in Massage, then in Structural Therapeutic Integration. While I am a jumpy, private person in regards to being touched, Colleen's professional calming presence allowed me to relax into the massage and receive a much needed muscle treatment. Colleen was sensitive to both my verbal and non-verbal responses and helped me to relax deeper as she eased me into muscle Nirvana. While the idea of being naked was a concern (I did wear big full coverage underwear), Colleen had a way to keep covered what needed to be covered and work on bits and pieces of tight muscles using appropriate pressure as she went. If I wanted something different, she was receptive and worked with my comfort limitations. The massage was excellent and I floated the rest of my Day. The concept of Structual Therapeutic Integration was new to me as probably most people, but from my understanding we were working together to realign, work thru the maladjustments I had been holding in my body, and ease me back into the correct posture and alignment we are meant to have. Different from massage in that there is a longer pressure/push on the tight muscles and a working together of Therapist and Client. Colleen would push slowly down a tight muscle as I gently moved the muscle in different poses to relieve the tightness. I could sense that it was helping my whole body work together and work as it was designed. I arrived with a strange clicking noise in my shoulder and some pain due to injury from an exercise DVD. With Colleen guidance and firm pressures, we were able to ease the tightness of the shoulder as well as other upper body regions. As I rose from the table, I could feel as well as see, a straightening of my spine and overall body. A side benefit was the Gift of being relaxed enough to sleep thru the night since the treatment. I believe the STI is a treatment that gives even after the process. Colleen is personable, giving, and has a healing touch in both the treatment types. Making an apportment was easy and worked into my schedule. The environment of her Office is calming, clean, and welcoming.
