This gentleman is unbelievable and superb!! From our first meeting thru our event last night was extremely professional, talented, caring and fun . I had many, many guests ask me for his business card as they were as impressed with how he entertained, his selection of music and how much he strived to please all our guest from age 3 up to 82. The young guest also enjoyed all the balloon shapes that his partner made for them. I would love to just follow them around to all their gigs on the weekends knowing the evening would be fabulous!!

A friend of mine referred me to Freedom Music Academy because I wanted to learn to sing and play piano at the same time and I didn't know where to start! I did my research and was so impressed by the teacher Mr. Wicks that I had to schedule my first lesson. When I did, I was blown away by what I was taught and how my voice sounded even after one lesson that I decided to go full blast and learn BOTH piano and voice. After some lessons and much help and direction from both Yohance and Angela, I am now a Tampa Bay "star". I do shows every week thanks to Angela putting together my band and booking us at great places, I have gotten 1st place in multiple competitions and just this month auditioned for the final season of American Idol and got through the first 3 rounds! I owe this all to Mr. Wicks for helping my real voice unleash! I had no idea I had piano talent as I do and I am forever grateful. Thank you both for pointing me in the right direction and helping my dreams come true. I love Freedom Music Academy. Highly Recommend to EVERYONE!

She is very responsive to texts and arrived at the venue very early to set up. Even among all the chaos she managed to play the right songs at all the right times and played them beautifully. My brother really enjoyed the sound of the live violin at his wedding. It wouldn't have been complete without her! This was a very last minute booking due to another violinist backing out on me. I booked two days before the wedding and it felt as if she knew exactly what to do nonetheless. Would definitely recommend.

Please read this long review: Forget the DJ- these guys are thecreal deal! As a musician myself, I’m hard to impress but Vikki & Bill are Top Professionals whose talent and energy will bring your event to life. Nothing will ruin a party faster than bad music, these guys made our night spectacular. Vikki has a unique vocal abilty to sound just like the artist, and Bill truely sings that guitar. Our guests were couldn’t stop taling about it and the venue manager wants to hire them for his future events. Thanks guys, you made the night.

Tropigroove performed for my 40th wedding anniversary on May 28th, 2016. While we were eating, the band played lots of beautiful slows, kind of jazzy songs from their deep repertoire. After the speeches were over, the band took my guess back to the 70s playing some of the popular songs of that decade. The saxophonist leaves you with the sound to want to hear again, the young keyboard player plays with the crowd, he knows his craft. I recommend that you hire Tropigroove for your next occasion, whether you need the band for a cocktail or a dance party you'll get your money's worth. Jerry & Michelle

I met Lars-Erik Robinson at an event in the fall of 2010. We were neighboring vendors for a full day, and had a chance to engage in conversation while I observed him entertaining and drawing caricatures of a wide range of people and their pets. We found a lot of common ground during our first meeting, and intended to collaborate and remain close through social media and in-person. Although our two careers keep us very busy, we finally collaborated on a major project, July 2011 when I assisted Lars with his new LarsERArts logo and his LarsERArts.com website. It was a true synergistic effort as Lars and I both had a lot to offer, and he is open to communication and the ideas of others. Lars definitely was able to present the goals of the project, and had enough brilliant artwork to really make the site amazing. He was very appreciative of my assistance and is a courteous and perfect compliment to me and my way of working. I have seen Lars grow as an artist with each quick sketch, mural, or extended illustration. As a person involved in the arts my entire life, with a BA in Fine Arts and history of working with professional artists - I have never seen the ability that this man has. His sense of awareness and technique has no limit. Many others have technique, and can draw/paint - but Lars has the best of both worlds - he can SEE. Lars' observation of faces and personality is legendary and thoroughly engaging to see live. I know that I met Lars on the cusp of National recognition and an amazing career. Every element is right about this man. He's on the right track, making calculated moves and working with great business sense and amazing talent. It is my desire that this recommendation will reach the National or international community who will view his portfolio and bring his artwork to a larger audience. His dedication to his craft and sacrifices of sleep, serenity, and an easy lifestyle are observable and commendable. I am so happy to have Lars as a friend, client, and business collaborator - as I plan to involve him in my own design projects. He is a great person who really shines in one-on one interaction, and with a large crowd. I highly recommend any interaction with Lars - whether it be a twitter or social media friendship, a studio portrait, art lessons, hiring him to draw caricatures at your next business or social event, a mural in your restaurant, or just a quick meeting and sketch at Pier 60 in Clearwater or the Pier in St. Petersburg, FL. Lars is great at updating his @LarsERArts.com twitter account and calendar at http://www.LareERArts.com - so you can find him in Tampa Bay and watch his brand of ArtTainment. Once you meet Lars, you will see that his talent and spirit are unmatched, and that his love for family, friends, and his other interests have true passion and sincerity.

Wright Still is one of the most talented musicians that I have had the pleasure of working with. He is professional, dependable, courteous and loves what he does. I had the pleasure of working with Wright for several months while I was in Florida and I would not trade that experience for anything. I believe that any production would benefit greatly from Wright being a part of it.

Robert Plates is one of the finest guitarists I've heard. As I'm not a musician myself, I cannot knowledgeably address his expertise, but as a music lover, I most certainly can avouch for the listening pleasure that Rob brings when he is playing. His exuberance and obvious pleasure when he is performing is infectious and forces you to listen to his fine mastery of his instrument. In a large group, clearly his contribution to the total sound of the ensemble is significant. He has a talent which is heartfelt. I have used Rob for my private parties and have been following his music career. Don't miss any opportunity you have to hear Rob play whether it's solo, jamming or with a noted band.

I really don't want to play at your event. Not interested at all. > A lifetime as a musician with a penchant for avoiding "real work", the slow spiral downward started at the tender age of 13 in Salem/Portland, Ore., where he played with numerous bands. He opened for The Shangri-Las, Beau Brummels and War, before he detoured off into a solo one-man band project opening for Thomas Dolby and Bruce Hornsby. He also performed on ads for Nike, etc. Still, survival dictated new strategies as he again changed into a solo pianist playing in hotels and 12 years in the cruise industry. He quit just about the time they stopped hiring him. Through out all of it, he kept a private life of composing and recording. "It's the most fun I can think of having in a day," he says. It is no longer a question of achieving success. I'm compelled to do it." See the Videos. Attilio 777 Subscribe, maybe. Share, maybe. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

    • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
    • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
    • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
