About

I am a former breeder and trainer of champion Labrador Retrievers who have attained AKC titles including Canine Good Citizen which is recognized as the gold standard for dog behavior. To achieve CGC dogs must pass a rigorous 10 step test to obtain their title. I have mentored under two pro trainers who many in the profession consider the best in the Northeast and also a K-9 police officer certified in behavior modification. I am experienced in basic obedience as well as advanced training and specialize in off lead instruction utilizing verbal and/or hand signals. I volunteer at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue. My training philosophy is praise and reward based. A dog has to enjoy the training or they will not succeed. I proudly served in the United States Air Force for four years. Working with the dog and owners as a team and seeing remarkable results. Taking a dog whether it be a puppy or a senior dog that the owners thought were untrainable and turning he/she into a valued member of the family that they can be proud of. Observing the owners at the beach or park with their dog off the leash but still in total control.

I have know Dave for a long time. I watched him train his Chocolate lab Coco from a pup to a Champion. She is a remarkable dog! He helped me train my little pug dog who was quite stubborn. Dave helped Teddy and me find the patience that it took to learn how to make him a well behaved member of our family. Dave is very professional and respectful with me and my wife and of our home. He has had full access to my home when we were away on vacation and has lived up to the trust that we put in him.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I like to schedule a "meet and greet" with the owner and dog to discuss their needs and desired training level and to evaluate the dogs potential. It is the perfect opportunity to get to know each other and discuss my training methodology.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Former breeder and trainer of champion Labrador Retrievers. Mentored by two of the top professional trainers in the Northeast. Mentored by a police K-9 officer. Volunteer at Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League.
