Lisa helped me fall in love with movement. She saw the pain I was in, my obstacles, and not only showed me how to work with them, but got me excited to learn about them.Mar 30, 2017
Lisa is the best! When working one on one her knowledge and intuition helped me tremendously with my injured back. She taught me what I can do for myself as well guide my body back into shape. Thank you Lisa!Apr 8, 2017
Lisa Day was my Pilates trainer for over a year at Innerstellar Studio. I participated in group classes as well as private classes in an effort to strengthen my aging body with a strong focus on my core. Every class was a pleasant experience, she was always energetic and positive and brought something a little different to each class. On the private sessions, I could tell she was always prepared with a specific plan catered to me. She paid close attention to my strengths & weaknesses and pushed me where I needed to go. I owe a lot to Lisa for gently prodding me to try Pilates and ultimately making it a fantastic experience. I'm still doing them to this day!Apr 3, 2017
Lisa was not only instrumental in helping me get back on my feet after falling and breaking my hip - but has also motivated me to be much more aware of good posture. She Gently encourages me to work on flexibility and balance - all with keeping safety in mind due to osteoporosis. Love all the support and knowledge she's given me ! ❤Apr 3, 2017
Lisa is a heartfelt and skillful body worker. She offers well guided group or one on one sessions where you will feel supported and encouraged to feel your body. I've had the pleasure of taking group yoga classes from Lisa where you definitely explore the strength your body has to offer but also where you can relax it and find soothing in some tight spots. Her private pilates classes are the best gift you could give yourself. She can really tailor the class to your needs and you can further understand your strengths and weaknesses and work on those to feel more balanced all around! She's a ray of sunshine and such a nice person to take guidance from.Mar 30, 2017
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Before scheduling an initial session, I like to speak with a potential client either via phone or email to get a better understanding of their goals, background and health history, including any injuries or tight spots that they want to address. From that, I'll design an initial session to address these goals and challenges. At a our first meeting, I supplement this initial information with a visual analysis of static and dynamic postures to better understand what specific muscles need strengthening, release and stretching. Throughout the session, IHome sessions can also be designed
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I've trained over 300 hours with my main teacher, Ana Forrest in both foundational and advanced Forrest yoga teacher trainings and I continue to travel to work with her as I am able. After completing my foundation training, I enrolled in and completed a year long Mentorship program with 2 senior Forrest Yoga teachers to gain ongoing training and support. I completed 500 hours of Pilates teacher training and am certified through the Pilates Method Alliance. I am a level 2 Reiki practitioner, First Aid certified and am consistently expanding my skills through workshops and additional continuing education opportunities.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?Pain. Specifically the pain from multiple neck, back and shoulder injuries (a car accident, sports injuries, and concussions among them), worsened by long work days at a desk. First it brought me to tears and then to Pilates. After years of working with one specialist after another and trying seemingly everything else with little success, I was amazed at how quickly I not only found relief from pain but so many additional benefits: I built strength, toned and reshaped my body, improved my coordination and posture (growing almost a full inch due to spine decompression), and regained a sense of ease and delight in my body. Finding Forrest Yoga was a serendipitous accident and the next major step on my healing journey. It was HARD and yet I felt refreshed and relaxed in my body after class, not tweaky or overstretched the way I had after some other yoga classes. It taught me that I can sweat (and sometimes shake) without strain and do it all with a relaxed neck. Above all though, it gave me a safe space to breathe, feel and connect to myself without judgement. The intent of Forrest Yoga, "Go Deeper," continues to challenge me to question the limiting and sometimes cruel ways I talk to myself, to honor my inner wisdom and deepen my relationship with my spirit to build the life I most desire. Having experienced the possibility of moving without pain first-hand, I took the next steps into teaching and now delight in curiously exploring new ways of moving with my students. My teaching is based on supporting and empowering each individual with the knowledge, tools and felt experience to bring new aliveness to their body and sparkle to their spirit.
