FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each request is priced individually. However, I usually discount for frequency (meeting more than once per week), and sometimes quote projects on a flat rate if they are ongoing or substantial in nature.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer all new potential clients a complimentary consultation, which is an informal meeting, usually 20-30 minutes long. At this meeting, we are able to get to know each other's expectations, ask questions, share sample activities for teaching and learning, and discuss logistics. This sometimes happens over the phone or Skype, but I prefer in person consultations whenever possible.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and certified in Secondary Social Studies. I have taught babies (sign language) through college students and adults. I have a Master's Degree in Latin American and Caribbean Studies (focus on Bilingual/Multicultural Education), and am close to finishing my PhD in U.S. Latino/a Cultural Studies, looking at the intersection of the arts, education, and democracy. I have designed innovative and creative curricula for elementary, middle and high school students, thematic units using discover-based learning. I excel at teaching and integrating STUDY SKILLS no matter the subject we are learning. While in San Francisco, New Orleans, Upstate NY and Miami, I have worked with many students, and am an excellent motivator and academic coach. I have completed extensive diversity training (NCBI--National Coalition Building Institute), in addition to training in teambuilding (FIU's TRAC--Team Ropes Adventure Course) and group facilitation.
