About
I’m a retired university professor with a Ph.D. in Measurement and Evaluation (the same field used to design tests like the SAT, ACT, and ASVAB) and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology. I combine deep expertise in testing with an understanding of how the mind works to help students learn more effectively and feel more confident.
I specialize in test prep, math and science tutoring, and study skills such as memory strategies, time management, and overcoming test anxiety. My sessions are friendly, engaging, and focused on real-world applications so knowledge sticks.
After 26 years in business, my favorite moment is still seeing that light bulb go on when a concept finally clicks. If you or your student are ready to learn in a smarter, more enjoyable way, I’d be happy to help.

My son was struggling to connect the dots on some math concepts. We met with Dr. Douglas Lunsford the night before a big retest and boom. My son went from an F to a B. He enjoyed working with Dr. Douglas Lunsford and actually looks forward to our next session. Thank you so much for breaking down the concepts in a way everyone can understand!

I am in a doctoral program and I was struggling with the statistical portion of the classes. I was tasked with using a statistical software that neither Doug or I had any experience with and he quickly learned the program and helped me understand the process and data. I am extremely grateful for his professionalism, knowledge of the subject, and good teaching styles as well as patience.

I tried other tutors and it is amazing the difference between their solutions. Douglas provided me exactly what I needed help with and simplified my project and saved me at least 3-4 hours per week. Would highly recommend. His knowledge and experience is priceless.

Douglas is a great tutor! He is super friendly, kind and professional. I went to him, knowing nothing about Excel and within an hour I already felt more comfortable. I plan to do more sessions with him, and I highly recommend his service!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
$75 an hour. There is no need to book more than one session at a time. No commitments are needed concerning time frame - I am flexible to work within the timeframe of the client.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
You are welcome to book a time with me to have a consultation or go straight to the calendar to either book a time to come to me or to a mutually convenient place and I also have a wonderful program which will enable me to work with you online. It enables me to write on my screen, and you see the answers appear on your screen. I can also see the things that appear on your screen when you want me to see them. I can record the entire session so that you can go back and watch it again for the things that you missed the first time.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a retired university professor (University of South Florida, University of Florida, Keiser University, St. Leo University, and University of Tampa); I have a Ph.D. in measurement and evaluation (the degree for those who make the SAT/ACT/ASVAB etc.) and a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology (so I also help students with memory tricks, time management, and overcoming test anxiety).
