- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Each case is different, so it varies a little bit depending on whether or not the case will be a misdemeanor or a felony, but I charge a flat fee for every DUI case. I offer payment plans, but since I hate the banking part of the job, I'll offer a big discount if people pay up-front and we don't need to worry about the billing. The biggest difference in fees depends upon whether the case involves an accident or any injuries, but there may also be a different fee depending on the jurisdiction (for example, if you want me to go to Miami, it's going to be more expensive than if your case is in my "home court" area) or if there are complex issues that you want extensively litigated (such as legality of blood issues or bringing in expert witnesses to attack the Intoxilyzer).
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
The key to winning a DUI case is DETAILS. The more information we have, the better the better the chances for finding a "magic bullet" that might make the difference between whether or not you can avoid a DUI conviction. The first thing we'll do is spend about 30-40 minutes on the phone, followed by an in-person, face-to-face meeting that will take at least an hour. I'll also have you complete a 17 page questionnaire to help identify more issues that might help you win your DUI case. It takes a little while, but if you're serious about getting the best possible outcome for your DUI case, it's worth the investment of time.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I exclusively handle DUI cases, which means I've completed -hundreds- of hours of DUI-specific continuing legal education classes. I've got ALL the books on DUI defense, a huge database of every breath test ever conducted in Florida, and hundreds of scholarly and scientific articles on DUI defense. DUI defense is the only type of law that I practice, and I stay on top of all the nationwide developments in the field to provide you with the most up-to-date defenses available.
