My daughter began karate training as a little dragon white belt at age 6. When she transitioned into the advanced 8 - 13 year old division, she had the opportunity to train with Sensei Robert. His knowledge, expertise, and dedication to the development of his students is exemplary. In particular, Sensei Robert is results driven and his tutelage has helped my daughter achieve Jr. Black Belt at age 12 and become a state champion in kata in 2013 AAU. Another student in my daughter's division was state champion in kumite because of Sensei Robert's excellent training and coaching skills during tournaments. I look forward to my daughter's continued development with the help of Sensei Robert's guidance.

My son started taking karate through a local high school. He was having a little bit of trouble in school when he stared. He has since brought his grades up, started reading more and been more helpful at home. I contribute this to the skills he has learned from Sensi Keith Moore. Keith, Karin and Maritza are like family. My husband and myself are currently taking a self defense class. I love it and would recommend everyone take it. My husband liked it so much he started taking regular classes with my son. This has brought them closer.

The kids' karate program at LMA is amazing! Both of my sons have been taking classes for just over a year and love them! The instructors are fantastic with young children and offer life skills as well as karate instruction. I couldn't ask for better role models for my children. I checked out several karate studios before going with LMA and couldn't be happier with the choice! The women's kickboxing classes are also awesome!

Barnard's Martial Arts is a member of the United Kempo and Gung Fu Academies. We believe that the martial arts offer a unique sports activity. The school (also called the "dojo") offers programs for all ages. Many families come to the martial arts because of its reputation for building discipline, self-control, focus, cooperation and fitness. When compared to other sports activities, the martial arts stand out for the focus on personal development. Barnard's Martial Arts is also the home of MartialFIT, a fitness program designed to enhance the study of martial arts. Students attend a weekly yoga, kettlebell, and kickboxing class. The key to martial arts success does not come from conquering others, but rather, from mastery of self. Studies now show that structured activities like martial arts can even help students challenged by ADD and ADHD. Tracing its lineage to Bruce Lee's Oakland, California school, Barnard's Martial Arts follows a Jeet Kune Do philosophy of teaching, combining the complimentary arts of kempo and gung fu. We offer instruction for students ages 3 and up.

I first met Sensei Barry Stephen when he was instructing at FAU 9 years ago. I have been with him ever since. I have lost 50 Ib. I have been receiving Karate, Brazilian Jujitsu, and Kickboxing lessons from him. I am about to be tested for my Black Belt. I have a Black Belt in Judo and KAJUKENBO, however, I consider receiving a Black Belt from Sensei Stephen to be the most important and the most valuable part of my martial art journey. He is a very knowledgeable and humbled man. He has been a friend and a mentor to me. I value him above and beyond. Sensei, thank you for all that you have done for me. Love, Cyrus.

We teach and train students of all ages in Martial Arts 7 days a week. Founded in 1980 in Plantation, Florida by Shihan Robert Mason, the American International Karate Institute, a.k.a. the University Karate Center, was established to further the personal growth and development of students of all ages. The MuDoKai curriculum that we teach uses the Martial Arts as the medium for practice. Utilizing vigorous training for physical development of Martial Arts skills, we train our bodies. By training with correct breathing techniques, we develop and achieve emotional balance. Through the use of visualization and perceptual awareness, we acquire and practice mental clarity and self-control. This training, when practiced consistently, leads to the accomplishment of self-mastery, the goal of our Martial Arts.
