About Brad Short Parkour & Fitness

I am a personal trainer in Palm Beach County. I specialize in Parkour and Freerunning Instruction as well as Yoga and Fitness. I take my clients on a journey of self discovery through unlocking physical & mental capabilities hidden within themselves through the development of natural human movement. Parkour is an art form or discipline where the student learns to move in an environment using no equipment except for the human body. Using different natural human movements like running, jumping, climbing, swinging and quadrupedal movement we find ways to get creative and involved with the environment that surrounds us. By exploring our environment through movement, we in turn explore ourselves and develop a very close understanding of our physical limitations. Through methods of strength, conditioning & flexibility training, I help my clients to expand the horizon of what their limitations are. Some limitations are limitations of physical feats, others are limitations built in the mind. I am here to help the client create for themselves an extremely practical and useful fitness, as well as give them a new found freedom and understanding of their environment through their ability to move as human beings.

In February of 2011, I became a certified parkour and freerunning instructor through the World Freerunning and Parkour Federation (WFPF). I have made a career for myself through parkour doing performances for companies like Equinox and The Coral Gables Museum, participating in stunt work for films and became a SAG-Aftra stuntman. I spoke at TEDxBocaRaton 2014 with speach title: "Finding your intuition through movement".

Q. Describe the most common types of jobs you do for your clients.

A. I do everything from live performances, stunt work for film, print, motivational speaking, human potential seminars, and private parkour and freerunning lessons

Q. If you were a customer, what do you wish you knew about your trade? Any inside secrets to share?

A. Parkour can be a tool to unlock you potential as a human being. It will connect you back with nature to a very high degree and the benefits of parkour are not just confined to your training, but are aspects that are applied to all areas of life.

Q. Why does your work stand out from others who do what you do?

A. I am a personal trainer, but the type of training I do with my clients does more than just strengthen them physically, there is a strong mental and self development and understanding that is incorporated in my teaching.

Q. What do you like most about your job?

A. I love to spread knowledge and understanding to others and parkour is such a positive and self rewarding activity.

Q. What questions do customers most commonly ask you? What's your answer?

A. One of the most common questions I get asked is "Isn't this dangerous? How many bones have you broken"
My answer is always the same "Parkour is not dangerous, because you only train what you are capable of and slowly increase your abilities. There is lots of physical conditioning involved to keep the body prepared for the movements it will be learning"
My answer to how many bones I've broken is "None, after 10 years of practicing parkour I am truthful with myself and never attempt any movement that I am not 110% confident in, also the daily physical conditioning I do has kept me safe from injuries"

Q. What do you wish customers knew about you or your profession?

A. Parkour is a great way to become physically and mentally strong. If you are wanting to reach new levels of capability in athletics or in life, you should defiantly try parkour and see if it is for you!

Q. How did you decide to get in your line of work?

A. I have been involved with Parkour since I was fourteen years old and it has been my passion and life's work to increase my human potential and become the best version of myself that I can. I began teaching in 2010, many people would approach me when I was out training Parkour and ask me If I could teach them what it was I was doing. So naturally I started sharing my knowledge and my client base grew.

Q. Tell us about a recent job you did that you are particularly proud of.

A. I recently did a performance in Miami for a gym called Equinox, I also did a performance for the Coral Gables museum for their Miami marine stadium exhibit, and a ford advert for their fiesta movement.

A. My pricing is simple for my private parkour and freerunning lessons/ personal training lessons/ and yoga lessons, I charge $40/ hr. For my other services contact me by email or visit my website.
