About
I think there are a lot of good teachers out there. In my humble opinion, I feel that one thing that sets me apart is my sensitivity and adaptability with my students. In my experience, many teachers have a set lesson plan, delivering "carbon copy" lessons all day long. I put in the extra effort to really listen and tailor the work to fit the needs of each individual developing artist.
I truly enjoy the interaction with students of all ages and types, and at all levels in their artistic development. I find it extremely rewarding when a student "gets" what I'm teaching them and has a breakthrough. Art is a gift that should be shared with as many people as possible!

I booked Lisa on a very, very short notice. She was flying back into town the same day as my event. She came directly from the airport and was so gracious when she arrived and we were running late and having some hectic logistics issues.
Her voice is absolutely angelic and filled our venue with no microphone at all. She was also able to secure a male singer for us, too. He was just as amazingly talented and kind as Lisa. Everyone at our event has been talking about how wonderful the performance was!! Definitely the highlight of our celebration. Book her! You won't regret it!

I asked for a professional vocal coach for my 11 year daughter. As a singer, (in a former life), I knew that the task would be daunting. I needed someone who understood that her age is critical in regards to potential damage of her vocal chords and any future ambitions she may have to sing professionally.
My first conversation with Ms. Lockhart was enlightening. Not only did she put my fears to rest, but explained how she would be "coaching" her in the proper breathing, posture and poise.
After our first meeting, my daughter pulled me aside and said "Can we have a lesson next week?" So, we have started a wonderful relationship with Ms. Lockhart, and am very pleased with my daughters' progress. She has even been willing to travel to our home in order to continue. I would recommend her services to anyone.
Thank you!

Was very nervous trying to sing for the first time, however I made it through with Lisa's help. She even had her husband available to help coach me, was a wonderful nervous day and looking forward to doing it again.

Sadly, I could only have one singing lesson with Lisa before having to leave for home in Canada. But the very generous hour we spent together was extremely helpful. I have issues with finding enough breath support to last through long musical phrases and Lisa showed me several techniques for building and strengthening support . She listened carefully to my needs and built upon my questions. Besides that, she's a lovely person with whom I think I could have created a warm musical relationship.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My hourly rate is $55, or $35 for a half hour lesson (there may be an additional fee when I travel to the student, depending on the distance); however, I am very generous with my time and if there is not another student waiting, I will almost always continue past the scheduled time. I like my students to end their lesson by singing/working through one of their pieces, so that they always leave with a feeling of accomplishment.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I always begin by asking the student what they hope to accomplish with their art, then we'll talk a little bit about their past experience. From there, we will dive right in with a few stretches incorporating Alexander technique to open up the body, some breathing exercises and vocal warmups, and we'll end each lesson by working on a piece of music! I tailor each lesson to the needs and talents of the individual student, and work every aspect of performance; not just the vocal, but also the interpretation and presentation, so that they can create fully developed characters and ace their auditions!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Vocal Performance from The Boston Conservatory of Music, where in addition to performance, I was trained in acting, dance, conducting, piano and vocal pedagogy.
I also have years of performance experience, both in the U.S. and throughout Europe; primarily in opera and classical music, but also in musical theatre and operetta.
I have done some directing and choreographing as well.
