Introduction: I have over 30 years of experience as a chef. I can do savory dishes and sweet. I am an Executive Chef, Executive Pastry Chef, Personal Chef, Culinary Instructor and Banquet Chef. I am featured in Florida Magazines as one of the Top Chefs of Polk County..I am professional trained, college degreed and apprenticed at Walt Disney World. Recently competed in a fundraising contest (Top Chef of Tampa Bay and Top Chef of Polk County) where I received best table and table decor award for both contests and Top Philanthropic Chef for Top Chef of Tampa Bay. Most recently I was featured on the front page of the Sarasota Herald teaching a culinary class. I run a small catering and private event company that is capable of doing big things. We are accomplished in small to large events/dinners. I have no desire to have a large catering operation, I prefer to be selective with my clients and make sure that it is a perfect partnership. I specialize in smaller events which allow my creative ideas to flow and reflect in unique and delicious dishes. I understand the importance of your event matter if it is an intimate dinner for two or two hundred and want to help make it a one in a lifetime experience. Quality over quantity holds true in my business practices. I give all to my clients and their guests. All of my dishes are fresh and made from scratch. I do not even have a freezer in my commercial kitchen. All of my fruits, vegetables and herbs are fresh and hand picked (mostly organic) from local farmers markets/ farm to table. My meats are hand picked as well. I search for the highest quality of cheeses and make all of our breads from scratch. I have experience with dietary restrictions such as Vegan, Gluten Free, Paleo, Vegetarian and Lactose Free and can create custom dishes that meets everyones needs. Going the extra mile is what seperates a chef/cook from an excpetional professional. My staff is trained with the idea that anything less than exceptional service is not accepted. We excel in special events and have a flair for the details and desire to leave the guests in awe of their dining experience that my talents and experience brings to any size table. Personal Chef

I hired the chef for a surprise birthday dinner for my Dad. It was an intimate dinner for 2 and the Chef pulled out all the stops. My parents were impressed with the quality and quantity of food!!!! They raved about every single aspect and said that the Chef was attentive to serving them and was respectful, tidy and displayed utmost professionalism. I am thankful to have found Chef and so happy she showered my parents with a once in a lifetime experience they can remember forever!

Wedding and Event Catering

We used The Island Chef for our backyard/beach wedding. The staff was amazing, the menu and the food were of the highest quality ( think of your favorite special occasion upscale restaurant), the presentation of the buffet was gorgeous. So many of our guests commented on the excellence of the food and asked for the caterer’s contact information. BTW, this was the first time we used The Island Chef; in the future, we won’t use anyone else. Oh, as an aside, one of my guests was on a gluten free diet for health reasons. I was surprised to find out that the menu was entirely gluten free except the bread pudding.

Highly recommend the Island chef. Chef Tamara was very responsive, accommodating and super easy to work with. We had the Island Chef for 2 nights. The first night, we had chef Frank. The food was excellent, but he went above and beyond in reorganizing the kitchen in our rental vacation house!! The 2nd night we had chef Tamara and it again was an amazing experience and a fantastic dinner. We hope to do this again!!

Wedding and Event Catering

Tamara was always available to talk about anything and everything regarding our wedding. She went beyond her realm of work by assisting with set up and clean up. Even though we went with buffet style her assistants were beyond amazing with cleaning and clearing plates on a timely manner. Our vegan cake and regular cupcakes were FANTASTIC (Guests raved about these). Tamara was professional, on time, easy to talk to and provided a great experience for me husband and I. I would VERY HIGHLY recommend the Island Chef to cater your wedding. Guests raved about food and service. Thank you so much Tamara and team.
