I’ve been working with Giulia for the past 6 weeks or so, and I love her. My goal for getting a tutor was to sharpen my language skills for when I travel to Italy for work and I think we’re achieving that. Giulia and I work collaboratively on lesson plans that best suit my needs. She has let me pick the topics I want to focus on, or brings to the table cultural translations to expressions I take for granted in English. Our lessons sometimes come from work books, but also can be exercises like, ‘a day a work’ where we speak to each other like we’re co-workers.
Giulia has also been my guide through cultural changes as well. Does Amazon deliver to Italy? Turns out, yes! Life there will be different and Giulia has helped mold my expectations. She answers all my questions honestly and authentically. I plan to continue my lessons up to and while I’m in Milan until I feel comfortable with the level I’m at. Even then, I’ll probably do check in lessons as I migrate from region to region.
I recommend Giulia to anyone who doesn’t want to feel the stringent classroom type feel of a professor, and needs the flexibility of virtual appointments around their schedule. We meet around my work schedule at times I pick, and can adjust, and sometimes I feel like I’m just FaceTiming a friend - but in Italian.
