How did you get started doing this type of work?
In 1988 my parents bought a small vertical blind company. We manufactured Verticals in our garage. Basically I grew up doing window treatments. But I didn't start doing this full time until my dad retired in 2016. That's when my wife and I took over the family business.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
It's always good to consider what is the main need for this room. Am I just looking to block out heat? Am I looking to block out light? Do I want a shade that is decorative or is it more for function? Am I looking for total privacy or are some light gaps acceptable? These are the type of questions I always ask when I am showing samples.
