Introduction: I am a certified art teacher with an M.Ed. I teach art lessons for: * Drawing * Painting * Pastels BIO Linda Hubbard Slicer is a local Florida Artist who was born in New Hampshire and grew in Western Massachusetts. She took art at University of Massachusetts and the Westfield State College. By 1994, she and her family resettled to the Tampa Bay Area, where she still lives. She works in several mediums including: acrylic, oil, pen and ink, calligraphy, watercolor, and pastel painting (a combination of watercolor and oil pastels or pastels). She also makes prints from woodcuts and linocuts. Linda enjoys the vivacious colors of Florida including scenes and subjects that bring out the most impressive palettes. ARTIST'S STATEMENT I paint because it gives me freedom to express myself. I view the world as unique. The commencing of my visual interpretation changes with each artwork. It's what spurs me onto the next canvas. There are no errors in art. What occurs on a canvas or page evolves from my mind and hand. Some compositions and designs arise from the curve of a line or the way water falls. Strange use of color creates a statement. Watercolor paper can be painted on, but also used with melded media such as oil pastels, pastels, ink, even green gold leaf and acrylic paint. Green is one of my preferred colors because it is vibrant, versatile, and transparent lending itself to the expression of light and life. The use of light is necessity to art. The presence of light elucidates a painting, producing a transparency. Depicting light manifests the goal of artists all around history, specially the Impressionists. It's my goal to attain creating light in my work and to learn the effect colors have on light and how certain colors allows light to shine through my painting.
