I was not impressed. The staff were nice, but I was not pleased with the outcome. This was for a diagnostic visit, as I was having issues with the a/c. The first step the tech took was to pull out the leak detector. The unit had just thawed out from being frozen, so there was still some water in the air handler drain pan. I watched as the leak detector was touching the water, and of course it beeped. At that point I was told it had a leak and the unit should be replaced (based on a FALSE positive). I was also told that my system had zero freon in it. The cap was removed outside and after pressing the stem some air came out. I was told that if freon was in the system, liquid would have come out. I was given a > $4k quote to replace the evaporator coils (not recommended) or get a whole new system. The push was their > $15k system. If I'm being asked to spend > $15k, I'm going to get a second opinion. The second company was surprised to hear that no gauges were ever connected to my system (odd for a diagnostic visit). Their first step was to connect the gauges, where they saw right away that it was 1 - 2 lbs short. To be fair, they did indicate that if they put the freon in, there's no guarantee that it would be good for years. I opted to spend $258 and saved myself the $15k unplanned expense. After about 30 minutes, my house was cool again. It's now been 5 days. There wasn't ever any follow-up. As far as this company knew, I have been without a/c. In retrospect, it feels like I was visited by more of a sales person than a tech - this is my personal take. The two big things I have issues with - gauges were never connected and I feel that the person knew the leak detector would beep if the sensor was put in liquid. On a positive note, I was not charged the diagnostic fee. I'm not expecting any follow-up from the business, just wanted to share my experience....
