Introduction: I am an award-winning artist and teacher. My book, "The Oil Painting Course You've Always Wanted", was published internationally by Watson-Guptill publishers, and has been a consistent bestseller in its field since.
I teach beginning classes in oil painting, and advanced classes in all 2D media at the Vero Beach Museum of Art. I also teach privately in my studio.
I am expert in a wide range of painting styles, from realism to abstraction, and my paintings will complement your decor in home or office. Commissions are accepted. I specialize in analyzing paintings, and can offer suggestions as to how to improve your own work.
I am an accomplished portrait artist. I work from photos that I take myself in collaboration with the client. A recent client told me that not only were they thrilled with their paintings, they felt that "it was more than just a painting; it was a personality."

I began painting with Sumi (Chinese Brush Painting) around 1980. This led to watercolor which in turn, led me to workshops from Maine to Hawaii. After trying many other endeavors, we moved to Florida where I was introduced to Kathleen Staiger who teaches all levels of oil painting at the Vero Beach Museum of Art.
I enjoyed her classes and learned so much that I never went back to the previous mediums. Kathy is very skilled in giving each individual student, whether beginner or advanced, the proper training. Her teaching of color and color mixing is the best I have ever experienced. Another aspect of her fine teaching is composition and design in which she excels, whether teaching realism or abstraction. Due to her skill in portrait painting, her students have produced some wonderful portraiture; again, due to her skills in color and color mixing.
In addition to teaching, she is now engaged in portrait painting. She has painted both my husband and I and we are thrilled with the results.
Her classes are, of course, heavily in demand because she gives her all, and holds nothing back.

Several years ago I asked Kathleen Staiger to do a portrait of my lake cabin from a series of photographs I mailed her. I was very impressed with her professionalism, her creative abilities and attention to the details of the painting. She also was very careful to be sure that I was pleased with the painting and often emailed me pictures of it so I could see the progress. This was all done via phone and email since she is in Florida and I am in Minnesota. I was extremely pleased with her work and have the painting in my living room and continue to recieve compliments on it. I was so impressed with the painting that I had personal stationary printed with the painting on the cover. I would highly recommend Kathleen Staiger!
