Outdoor Landscaping and Design
We had a really good experience working with owner Roger Bregenzer. He was patient and informative with us as we are non-gardeners. He has been in the plant business a long time and he has a very hard working crew. On his initial consult visit to give us an estimate for landscaping our wild and weedy steep hillside, he recognized that a large number of our tall pine trees had a beetle infestation and were dead or dying. He provided us with a great referral for a tree company and provided good service in temporarily removing some azaleas to provide an exit path to remove the trees. After having over 25+ large pine trees removed, we had Roger's crew return to replant the azaleas and drastically improve our step hillside with all new plantings and the addition of large rocks. He was able to repurpose or retain several plants that were already on the property and tuck everything in with pine straw for the winter. We can't wait until spring arrives to see everything flourishing!Nov 29, 2017Verified
Roger helped us address several problems; namely erosion and privacy. He brought excellent vision and creativity to our project and it turned out even better than we expected. Also, his team was courteous and professional, and responded to our concerns in a timely manner. I would highly recommend Bregenzer’s Inc.Nov 3, 2017

- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? Most components are priced as a unit cost which includes labor, materials, sales tax and delivery. Items that vary as per site conditions such as grading, pruning, clean up and irrigation repairs are billed on a time and materials basis.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I assume the role of an interpreter and devil's advocate. I ask a lot of questions. I want to know how you will use the area. When it will be used and by how many people. What specific needs should be addressed (children, pets, entertaining, level of maintenance, time frame and budget). I ask clients to provide a couple pictures that depict a landscape that appeals to them. I want to know if there are problem areas. What plants and colors they like or dislike. Once I have a grip on their needs and the scope of the project we walk around and discuss possibilities. If a design is needed we have a computer program that puts the new landscape on a picture of their house so they can see what it will look like when it matures.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I graduated from Georgia State with a degree in Psychology with a minor in Accounting. unknowingly it was the best choice for owning your own business because it is all about people and managing money. I worked for a landscape company for 3 years before starting Bregenzer's in 1977 with 2 high school kids. I started out doing maintenance and eventually expanded into landscape. through experience, working with Landscape Architects and attending seminars I gained a knowledge of plants and a pragmatic approach to solving landscape problems. By the late 1980's were in the the top ten list of landscape companies in Atlanta and president of our contractor's association (Metro Atlanta Landscape and Turf Assoc.)During my tenure as president of Malta Atlanta experienced a serious draught and I then realized we had to develop a product less dependent on water resources. I expanded into hardscape which now is the largest component of our sales. I was a finalist for the Atlanta chamber of commerce small business person of the year with 60 employees. With the recession of the 2nd Gulf war I had to downsize. I then realized I missed the personal contact with my clients and their projects and vowed to only accept work I was capable to personally manage. This has allowed me to keep a core group of trained personnel with varied skills to perform the many aspects of a complete design / build program.
