Leonard Foster was my professor in 2012. I have an MBA in International Business and Marketing and am currently a Business Analyst at Soft Solutions, an international company dealing in Corporate Retail. We currently contract for Target and CVS. I am who I am today due to the influence of great people in my life. I arrived in this country with limited English speaking skills. I enrolled in ESL classes at Mercer, GA and this is when I met Len. In his classes, we learned much more than “Business English.” Len recognized and valued our differences. For example, one time our class had to meet outside of the classroom. Americans have a tendency to arrive on time, but our class wasn’t comprised of Americans. Len had advised the person we were meeting that “some of us are going to be 15 min late.” He helped me appreciate the good in other cultures and his instruction is what inspired me to pursue an MBA in International Business. Len has a deep knowledge of world culture. His teaching style is engaging, anecdotal, accessible, and consistent. He always spoke with us as equals and encouraged collaboration and debate. His class was the highlight of the term.

Do you believe in miracles? After working with Len Forster, I do. I have been working with Len over the course of the past two years to improve my English and presentation skills. He has been the perfect teacher for me, since he has academic know-how in the English language and he himself was a public speaker and a consultant for so many years. I have significantly improved my English to such a degree that people cannot believe I have been living in the USA only for the last two years. I have reached a proficiency level that enables me to lead groups of senior people in different markets. So you might ask, is that the miracle that she is talking about, the fact that she was able to achieve these in two years? No, not really. Len was the miracle himself. I will tell you why… A person might know all the information in the universe and have degrees on everything. However, being able to share that know-how with others requires a totally different skillset. That differentiates a very knowledgeable man from a very good professor. After working so many years in my home country, I was transferred to the Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta in October 2012. In my new role, I was responsible for designing, planning and facilitating workshops on creative business solution where I had to communicate with senior leaders in the company and facilitate sessions with a room full of people for several days in my second language! It was a terrifying few months before I met and started working with Len. Len was very smart, and experienced enough to read my proficiency level, but also he had great empathy for the situation and the emotional state that I was in. He has designed a very good program for me taking into consideration all these factors. He has given me support, confidence and encouragement throughout the period that we worked together. I owe all the progress I had in the last two years, not only to his expertise in what he did but also his genius in being able to read me as a student and support me accordingly. I have met only a few people like him in my life, and I know that what he has a very unique skill. That’s why he was a miracle for me, and it was a privilege to be his student. Do you believe in miracles? Thanks to Len, I do. Sincerely, Guliz
