David does outstanding work! He has a preciseness that I don’t think exists anymore with carpenters. We hired David to build golf storage shelves for us as well as add wall detail to our son’s room and our hallways. He is still upstairs working on a separate job for us now because we keep thinking of more for him to do, but I had to come on here and give him an outstanding review. Whatever you can dream up, he can probably build and build very well. He clearly has a deep knowledge of types of woods and trims and finishes that would work best for certain projects and he is honest about what works and what doesn’t. I’m sharing some progress photos even though the job is not yet complete. If you are thinking about hiring him, don’t think twice. Outstanding work! Pictures don’t even do these progress photos justice.

David did an incredible job transforming our basement entryway. What started as an open pass-through with a temporary gate is now a beautiful finished doorway with a glass-paneled French door, clean trim, and a much more polished look. The before-and-after difference is huge.
David’s workmanship was excellent. The door fits and swings properly, the trim work looks sharp, and the whole project feels like it belongs with the rest of the house. He clearly paid attention to the details and took pride in making everything look clean and professional.
He was easy to work with, reliable, and did exactly what we hoped for. We’re thrilled with the result and would absolutely recommend Keeneye Carpentry to anyone looking for high-quality work.

I hired David to build and install a Murphy bed with custom trim to have it look seamlessly built into the wall…but he ended up doing much much more. Long story short - he went ABOVE AND BEYOND on this project. I’m obsessed with the outcome!! I can’t stop staring at my new space. It’s my husband’s office (and our guest room) but I wish it was my own now…It was a total room transformation, and it’s totally gorgeous.
In two days time he knocked out the Murphy bed and custom trim, but I kept thinking of exciting things to add to the project scope as I saw it come to life. He was up for (and enthusiastic about) all my side quests: he did a beautiful paint job (with very dark glossy paint - tricky!!) on the Murphy bed cabinetry, all of the trim, all of my walls and doors - beautifully color drenching the entire room without a trace of mess left behind. Painting cabinetry is no joke - so many nooks and crannies, it requires specialized equipment, and he took extra care and extra time to make sure there were zero blemishes. And I picked the darkest and glossiest and most unforgiving paint possible. He really wouldn’t rest until the finish was perfect.
He also did some surprise electrical work when we realized the Murphy bed install would block my outlets - he moved several outlets out so that they could remain functional. Speaking of electrical work, I decided mid project I wanted to update the overhead light to a fan - he rewired and installed my new ceiling fan.
Another thing I dreamt up mid-project was to put some wallpaper in the space where the bed comes down - he was super flexible and paused his cabinetry building and trim work to allow for the wallpaper to get delivered and enable me to put it up.
Lastly, I’m super impressed with his communication and frequent check-ins during the whole project - he’s very transparent and knowledgeable about potential issues and things to watch out for, he would check in frequently to ensure we were on the same page about the next step, all the while having a very “I’ll get it done / I’ll figure it out” attitude. This was important since I kept thinking of things I needed help with.
David is truly a skilled professional and a major perfectionist. I’m shocked at the value because I had several other contractors quote me THOUSANDS more on price for this project. I’ve already hired him to come back and do my daughter’s nursery transformation…can’t wait!!
