Introduction: Hi! Thanks for checking out my profile. My name is Tyson Farmer, and I am a one-man band and online music lessons teacher based in Canton, GA. I'm a One-Man Band - better than a DJ, cheaper than a live band! I provide all the fun and energy of live performance without the hassle, floor space, expense, politics, and deafening sound of a full band. I am a fully independent classic rock, oldies, soul, pop, acoustic, funk, disco, and southern rock musician all in one professional package. I perform with a wide spectrum of background music through a powerful but compact Bose L2 sound system, with bass, drums, keyboards, background vocals and more, so people can still dance and enjoy a lively atmosphere without the hassle and extra decibels of a full live band setup. And since I take up a lot less space than a full band, there's a lot more room left over to dance in! I also teach online music lessons for guitar, voice, piano, and banjo through Skype and other videoconferencing services. Video-conferencing allows me to reach a wider base of students than if I taught out of a music store, and allows the student to take lessons without having to live nearby or schedule for traffic time. All you need is a decent webcam (sometimes built into laptops), and a decent internet connection. I offer a free half-hour trial lesson to anyone who wants one, and charge $30 per half-hour lesson, payable by Paypal or check by mail. Thanks for stopping by!

Tyson is a wonderful teacher...enthusiastic, supportive and great at engaging with my teenager. He has a great ability to be serious about the music but fun about the approach. We’ve taken lessons for years now and I highly recommend him.

Tyson is Passionate about teaching, fun and engaging. He inspires others to become as passionate about music as he is and I would not be where I am today without him.

Tyson is a gem of an instructor! My teenage son actually looks forward to practicing and going to his lessons. My son has made significant progress since he began studying with Tyson and his enthusiasm has not wavered. Tyson has truly inspired him to love music. As a parent, I have been extremely pleased with Tyson’s professionalism, courtesy, and responsiveness. Schedule a lesson right now; you won’t be disappointed.

Tyson is genuinely one of the kindest teachers I've ever had the pleasure of knowing. His passion for music shows in every lesson, and I always leave each lesson satisfied with my progress.

My experience with Tyson has been absolutely incredible. He's taught me so much about music that I feel I never would have learned without devoting my life to learning the secrets of music, and he taught it all to me in a matter of months. He teaches students based on both their skill set and their interests rather than teaching to a structured lesson. It can be difficult at times to discipline myself, but I still think he is an incredible teacher.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I offer a free, no obligations half hour trial lesson to anyone who wants one.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I ask them what their musical interests and goals are and if they have any previous musical experience so I can custom design the lesson to their unique needs. I usually like to start learning songs they like as soon as I get past the basics in the first few lessons.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In addition to teaching and performing since 1991, I studied as a classical guitar major at Kennesaw College in Marietta GA, and then as a jazz guitar major at Georgia State University in Atlanta GA, in addition to studying with numerous types of private and choral vocal training classes and teachers. I have played and sang professionally since 1990, both as a solo performer, and in numerous corporate and wedding bands, including the Atlanta Band of Gold, one of Atlanta's premiere wedding bands in the southeast.
