Introduction: I learned to play guitar by simply listening to a song and then figuring out the chords to be used. With each song, it became easier and easier. Most songs can be played by using only three or four basic chords, and each key will generally have the same accompanying chords. Examples: Key of G: (accompanying chords C and D), Key of C: (ACs F and G), Key of E: (ACs A and B) and so on. I believe that teaching guitar must be a hands-on experience in which both the student and teacher have guitars in hand. Books, charts, etc. are fine for informational purposes, but I'm convinced that you cannot learn to play a guitar, unless you are actually holding a guitar.
