My experience with Takiyah Thomas of Ja DeâVan Fashion has been simple exceptional. She really knows her stuff. Not only has she made me several garments that were absolutely beautiful and were a perfect fit, she also held a sewing class that has taught me allot and has built my passion for sewing. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I take pride in my sewing, and appreciate when clients do not attempt to negotiate my price. I require a non-refundable 50% deposit to start a sewing project.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Typically I’m able to get all of the information I need from a client via text/email. Once I price the job, and client agrees, I schedule a fitting.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been sewing since I was 12. I have not been formally trained in fashion design, unless you count Home Economics in high school, which was an easy A, because I was already sewing at that time :-)
