Dear Sir,
I am submitting this recommendation on behalf of Charles E. "Chuck" Roberts. It is my understanding that he is hopeful of attaining gainful employment with your organization, Leaf Filter. At your suggestion, I hired Mr. Roberts to repair a portion of my roof. In light of this request for a letter of reccomendation, I paid careful attention to three things that I think are important for all job interviews. First, I looked for a positive attitude. Secondly, I looked for a strong work-ethic. Lastly, I looked for leadership qualities. Mr. Roberts brought two men to help him complete the job.
I am pleased to report that, in my opinion, Mr. Roberts has an aggressively positive attitude. I am "old- school" and I would say he has a "can-do" attitude. He turns negatives into positives with increased work activity, while assuring the customer that their satisfaction is his main goal. His work ethic reminds me of the era from wince I came. You fix things rather than buy things. This requires ingenuity, tenacity and creativity. In my case, he brought his team to repair a specific issue on my roof. After a thorough examination he found several additional issues that must be repaired. He took pictures of the damaged areas and stated that without repairing those areas, his efforts would be useless. He did not come with the materials necessary to complete these additional problems. He called his crew together assigning each one specific duties according to their skill-sets, to have the damaged areas properly prepped so that when we returned from Lowe's, they could begin work immediately. I thought this demonstrated good leadership/organizational skills. They worked late into the night using a flashlight to complete the job. His crewmen followed his lead. There were no complaints, sour attitudes, or foul language. They were courteous and respectful.
Finally, The "proof is in the pudding", as they say and so it is here. Within hours after they departed for home, a strong band of thunderstorms cam rumbling through. Straight-line winds exceeding 60 MPH and rainfall measuring 2-3 inches from 2AM- 7AM. I am delighted to report that there was NOT ONE DROP of water in the room under the portion of the roof they had repaired!!!
The cost was elevated over the initial estimate but was reasonable and well worth it in light of the unforeseen damage to the roof.
Note to Leaf Filter: If you don't hire this man and his crew, I'll put him to work in South Georgia where folks are still nailing blue tarps to their roofs, thanks to all these storms we've endured for the past two years.... Bottom line... He has my full recommendation.
If you have any questions or need further information, don't hesitate to call, text or email.
Respectfully,
Dr. Billy Starling
