Is it always better to be specific about the hours of the event. DJs for the most part charge by hour, make sure you can afford the DJ before you set the hours for the event. Also, it is good to provide an idea of the music you expect to hear during the event. It will allow the DJ to make a custom playlist to cater more to your taste or style of music.
