- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing guitar since 1990. I taught myself by slowly learning one chord at a time and playing popular songs. Playing guitar was a hobby to me. I had no aspirations to play onstage. I simply played at parties and at home. In 2001, I was laid off so I decided to attempt 'playing out' in local bars and venues. By 2004, I had played at venues or private parties as far away as Chicago, Ill; Miami, Fla; and Bowling Green, Kentucky. I began booking bands and found a good income as a musician. In 2005, I got married and settled down in Gray, Ga. I continued to play professionally, but kept my work close to home. We made a good living and in 2010, we began building a house in Haddock, Ga. 2012, Upon completing the build of our home, I had an accident that put me in a back brace and a wheelchair. It was during this time that I expanded my understanding of the guitar and then the history of teaching it. As I continue to heal, I find a great deal of satisfaction in passing along my knowledge of music to children and adults alike. Although I can no longer perform regularly onstage- I do enjoy the occasional appearance onstage with long time friends. I continue to write and perform music for corporate videos and weddings and I enjoy teaching guitar to adults and children.
