FAQs
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
As a customer looking for a massage therapist, it is helpful to let a potential therapist know if there are preferences, especially, gender preferences. Once hired, it is also important to inform the therapist of any health condition the customer might have that could become worse with massage therapy.
- What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
In massage therapy school, we were encouraged to use the term massage therapist versus 'masseuse' or 'masseur'. Even though there's no harm done in using these terms, because in France, they would be very appropriate and correct. However, here in the U.S. these terms grew to have a distasteful reputation. I wish all my customers knew to address me as a massage therapist since this is gender neutral and it lets everyone know that I am a licensed professional that provide therapy for health and well being.
