Ayana did alterations to my wedding dress and it turned out great. The dress was too big for me when I bought it and needed to be altered quite a bit to fit me right. It also was hard to alter because of the material but Ayana made it possible. She was very communicative throughout the whole process and very professional. I felt comfortable to tell her if I needed or wanted anything else done to the dress or if it still wasn’t fitting quite right and she would get to it right away. I’m beyond happy with the end result of my dress. Will definitely recommend to any friends or family.

I'm so happy that I found Ayana on Thumbtack! Before I connected with her, I had been looking for a professional seamstress for months. However, after I found Ayana on Thumbtack, we messaged and talked. Then, she scheduled an appointment for us to meet and for me to bring the 8 items that needed to be altered. On our first visit, Ayana was punctual, professional, and knowledgeable in her craft. Her demeanor was also very warm. During our visit, my husband and I explained what we needed done to my 6 pairs of pants, my 2 dress blouses and my husband's 2 coats (one dress overcoat and one leather casual coat and on the day of pickup, Ayana delivered excellent results! We have additional items that we will be taking to her to alter soon, and she has officially been crowned our family seamstress. Lastly, I have decided not to upload any pics because I did not take any pre-alteration pics of our items. Therefore, an after alterations image would not prove helpful. Just know that her work is superb and her finished product will put a smile on your face. Thanks, Ayana!

Last week, I was extremely stressed as my daughter's prom dress arrived and it didn't fit!!! With only 5 days until her prom, I had to research in order to find a seamstress to fix my baby's dress. To be honest, I didn't have much faith but to my surprise, I received an immediate response from Ayana. Not only did she message me immediately, she also told me to bring the dress and my daughter to her so that she could do the necessary alterations. I must say that Ayana delivered everything and more. She met with us throughout the week and put time and effort into making sure that my baby's dress fit for her prom! Ayana worked her magic and skill. My baby looked like Cinderella for her prom. AYANA did contact me by phone and we talked I think it was twice and she had to go out of town and will hopefully return this or next week to do my clothing hemming. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Yes. I have a base price for alterations services and build my quotes from there. I also have a base price for labor for dressmaking services and build a formal quote from there.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I schedule a one-on-one consultation at my studio. During the consultation, I take their measurements if this is a custom project. I provide a quotation. Once deposit is received, I begin work. NOTE: I DO NOT DO REPLICAS. That is stealing.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My mother taught me to sew when I was 12 years old. As a teenager, I did alterations for family members and sewed for myself. I also worked for a clothing manufacturer setting sleeves. As an adult in the choir, I made my outfits while others were out shopping each week. All the while, I provided alterations for friends, co-workers and others clients who came by word of mouth. I also provided alterations for proms and weddings.
