I was in need of support with my AC. I was having difficulty with adjusting my manual dampers. I called them out and was willing to pay $75, bc I was desperate to find out what I was doing wrong and get educated on how to do so moving forward. The owner, Thcable, came out and inspected the system. He showed me how to adjust the dampers and allowed me to take photos. He mentioned that one of the ducts was detaching a little and that he was going to secure it. He went to his truck got a zip tie and secured it in about 5 minutes. He layet made mention of an upgrade to my system that would provide an extra layer of security from possible water damage. Basic security features were already installed. I asked how much he told me $190. I decided to move forward with it. (In speaking to another tech, I was later told this was not at all necessary bc the security feature installed would already cover my needs). This took him an additional 15 minutes. To my surprise, my final bil presente was over $300. When I inquired why, he told me him securing the duct was $120. He never told me he was going to charge me for that. In fact, he never even asked if I wanted it done, he just said he was going to do it. Please understand the air was flowing just fine through the vent despite it not being fully secured. I would have NEVER paid him to do something I could have done myself or had my handyman do for 20 bucks. When I told him such, his solution was for me to pay him the trip fee which was to be waived with service. In the end, I paid it. I was not comfortable challenging an unknown man behind closed doors, but I fully understand that he was out to get a payday for less than an hour of service. I gave him the benefit of the doubt when I read one other review stating the same. When I was transparent and let him know I was going to write a negative review and contact the BBB, he did not care. He only cared about his payday. I hope it was worth it because I will go on every platform to tell others to BEWARE of a company and owner who tell you about additional charges AFTER the fact and price gouge ($120 to put a ziptie around a duct?!?!). I promise you I would have paid the $75 service fee and not had him attach it had I known his price gouging intentions. I am big on transparency and don't appreciate surprises. Its not okay. Do NOT use this company unless you want to go with someone looking to take advantage to earn a few extra bucks.
