- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
emails to establish initial contact...followed by at least one phone conversation and perhaps a meeting if desired by the bride and groom.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a USCG licenced Master Captain,hold Master Degrees in History and Education.As a former teacher and naturalist, I am at ease speaking before large groups of people. I am also an ordained minister with the Church of Spiritual Humanism.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I had some friends who approached me to perform their wedding on my boat...I found I could legally perform their ceremony atop the Tybee Lighthouse ...a wedding planner inadvertantly witnessed the ceremony ...she approached me saying it was the most beautiful ceremony she'd ever witnessed ...could I perform weddings for her on the beach? Later that day I was having a beer at a local watering hole with two gay women ...they took me home, turned on their computer and introduced me to the "churchofspiritualhumanism.com ".It was endorsed by the late astronomer,Carl Sagan.I joined and have been performing weddings and civil unions ever since.
