I am a young professional who is in a wheelchair. I bought a single story foreclosed 1,600 sq. ft. house in midtown and contracted with Jill and David Ellis to remodel it and make it handicap accessible. They leveled an uneven cement floor, installed a new Mahogany wooden floor throughout the house, installed new appliances, and remodeled the master bathroom out of marble. Jill set it up so that I can roll myself into my shower stall and take a full shower while remaining in my wheelchair the entire time.
I wanted my backyard fenced for security and instead of buying the preassemble thin board units they used pressured treated decking boards and built a custom fence that looks great and you can not easily scale it. They even attached carpet strips across the inside of the top so that if someone did try to climb over it their hands would be cutup by the carpet tacks embedded in those strips.
Instead of just installing a new front door with the standard short screws that the prefab unites come with, they removed the those short screws and replaced them with 3 inch long screws so that the hinges were secured to into the actual frame of the house. The lock hardware was removed and they installed a 3-foot strip with correct cutouts for the door to latch and the deadbolt to sink into. This 3 strip they too secured into the frame of the house again with 3-inch screws.
The install was tested a few weeks later as I came home one night to find that someone had attempted to kick in the door. They put some effort into but the door did not fail. The police had to use a Jaws of Life rig to pry open the damaged door. I contacted them the day after this happened and they came and immediately installed me a new door.
Clearly I think highly of their work.
