When I first started my fitness journey I realized that a lot of my weight loss practices were unhealthy. I was eating too little and started to see signs that my body was not ok, but I didn't know who to listen to when there are so many methods out there that contradict each other all in the name of “weight loss”. Hope in Health was recommended to me and Malia, my health coach helped change my perspective from running to quick weight loss trends to working towards consistency in healthy lifestyle choices. I used to think I needed to lose the weight as fast as possible, but the way she coaches helps me understand the science about how my body works. How it processes and breaks down nutrients, how it reacts to workouts, lifting weights, stress, sugar, even hormones. Understanding this has empowered me to work with my body rather that against it like I was before. It also helped me see what resources contribute to my goals like nutrient rich foods as well as how the foods I do like can still be incorporated. Now I am more aware of what helps my body and what doesn’t based on how my body reacts. Other personal trainers push hard to get the fastest results. Malia is patient and sticks with me at my own pace. She challenges me in ways that are exciting and have me looking forward to my mealtimes and workouts which is an entirely new concept for me. She is not focused on quick turnaround; but looks for lasting impact to equip each client with the knowledge and healthy disciplines so that it becomes a way of life. Doing the program online has expanded my workout knowledge greatly. I used to be afraid to try certain machines at the gym because I didn’t know how to use them correctly or at all. My coach makes videos of how to use each machine that I can watch the night before and learn the proper form so by the time I get to the gym, I have some level of understanding of how to use the machines and am not so afraid. This has made me feel a lot more comfortable and confident to try new workouts. We check in monthly with phone calls to make sure I am on track and to address any questions I have about where I am at and where I want to be in the future as we continue in the plan she has made for me. She also sends me recipes of healthy meals that encourage me in my goals. That really eases the stress of coming up with a menu for the week for sure! I recommend working with Malia because no matter where you are in your fitness journey, she is very educated in the science of the body and food that she can map out the best plan to help you not only achieve your goals but learn how to listen to your body and what it needs. Whether you’ve been at it for a long time or are just starting out, her process is dynamic and yet very doable. I have been able to successfully incorporate these practices into my daily life. All in all, her coaching has helped me be more consistent than I was when I was doing this on my own. I could not have made it to where I am today without her help. She does all the planning so I don’t have to and is there to encourage me through every step! Slowly through the program and her coaching, I am no longer seeking out the finish line of my health goals, but living in the daily choices that empower me to be the best version of myself for today and everyday after.

I met Malia back in 2015. I hired her as a personal trainer and nutritionist to help me get my life back on track with my fitness goals. Not only did she educate me about the process and give me the tools and resources to set me up for success she started educating me and helping me learn how to enjoy the process. I no longer look at health and fitness as a diet, membership, or a season. I now look at health and fitness as something I’m going to be doing for the rest of my life. She’s helped transform not only my mind with how I think about , nutrition and fitness. She has given me so much knowledge about food, your muscles, your tolerance, and at my age the change in a woman’s body. At 46 years old I feel like I’m in the best shape of my life. I’m stronger, leaner, and I have endurance. I’m able to do hikes, walk my dog, long periods of time, do things actively that in the past, I would injure myself. She’s taught me how to stretch, roll out, and nurture when my body is sore. I can’t say enough about the care that she gives her clients. I’ve referred many of my friends and colleagues to her and she is helping them with her fitness journeys. I would highly recommend Malia whether you have short term goals or lifetime achievements to accomplish. Her facility is always clean, more of the updated equipment, and she monitors you personally to make sure you’re maximizing the time spent there and you’re properly doing the exercises. I wish I could give her so many more stars as she’s become family at this point in my life.

I really choose all 5: Work Quality, Professionalism, Responsiveness, Value, & Punctuality but the system limits you to 3 choices but again, I choose all 5 and I add a 6th which is Knowledgeable! My former personal trainer had moved and I desperately wanted to keep up with my training. Malia was referred to me by a friend and what an amazing difference! While my former trainer was terrific, Malia understands and is very in tune with the specific needs for all women's physiques but especially those of us dealing with peri/or post menopause. Or training and dietary needs change when in these phases of life and again, Malia is very in tune and knowledgeable in this area. I can truly say that since training with her, I'm in the best shape of my life and what's even better is that she truly cares! For me, training with Malia is like breathing...a necessity. Plus, she makes every workout fun! I can't recommend her enough :)

I have been training with Malia for the past 6 months. Malia helped me set health goals and meet them. At first I was concerned only about the number on the scale and my jeans. Malia's training went to the core of who I was and who I wanted to be come. She was consistent and encouraging. I am succeeding beyond what I imagined when we first started. Every time we connected I was inspired to continue my journey. It became less about weight loss and more about wholeness and health. I have lost weight and I am stronger. One of the best things I have learned from Malia is that this is for the rest of my life. It wasn't typical session with just a personal trainer and nutritionist.
