Introduction: Writing was something that humans evolved to practice, so it's not wonder the whole process can be so intimidating, daunting to even the most seasoned professionals. But I truly believe no one should let this challenge undermine the value of what they need to say; everyone has a great thought to be said. When I work with clients, I respect their thoughts, their inherent individuality, and I embrace that to help them develop their best written piece whether that's creative, professional, formal or scholarly. I work through the entire process with them starting with the raw idea.
When I discuss with clients exactly what they want, I hone in on certain words they say (or sometimes what they don't say) to get a clear idea of what they expect of themselves. And pulling those expectations out of them, then working with them to refine them, and hearing the client agree excitedly, almost with a sense of relief that someone sees their visions just the way they do, is inspiring-- every single time, with every single client.
