About
I focus on value. A lot of Architects out there tend to charge huge premiums for services that can be executed professionally, on time, and on your budget without breaking the bank if you have the right team.

Aaron Shimizu is one of the rare architects who is both design-minded and extremely practical in the real world. We run Lanikai Homes and have worked with enough architects to know when someone is truly top tier. Aaron is responsive, clear, and easy to work with, and his drawings make sense for builders in the field.
The biggest value he brings is his deep knowledge of Honolulu DPP and permitting. He does not just submit plans and hope for the best. He knows how the system actually works, what will trigger issues, and how to keep a project moving. More importantly, he can help people get out of serious nonconforming or unpermitted situations. A lot of homeowners buy a place and do not realize how many illegal items they inherited until it becomes a problem. Aaron is a wizard at creating a clean path to legalize what is needed and get things approved without wasting months.
If you want an architect who is sharp, proactive, and can protect you from expensive permitting mistakes, Aaron is an easy recommendation.

Hi Loke,
I’m giving you a 5 Star review for helping me find an architect. You have excellent customer service skills which means you take the time to explain your services, you listen and understand the customers needs and your voice tone comes across as caring and relatable. I would definitely use your services again when the need arises.

My husband and I were first-timers looking for design help with our modest galley kitchen and felt like we hit the jackpot when we found Aaron; he was the only pro we spoke to that didn't make us feel like our project was too small. He took all our concerns and questions to heart and patiently reassured us that we weren't totally in over our heads. We highly recommend Aaron Shimizu for the way he was able to maximize the use of our tight space while minimizing cost.

Aaron is very knowledgeable and skilled at what he does; one of the best I've worked with. He went above and beyond his duties to help solve issues as they arose. A very pleasant experience!
FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing will reflect the services required. Some projects only need drafting and permitting, others may require engineering. You only pay for what is required or desired.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
It is important to have a general idea in mind, though we can help with design if you haven't dialed in your exact plan. It is also good to consider your budget and what type of contractors you might need for your project. The key factors for architectural planning will be the location (address and/or tmk), the space available, and gathering any documentation you have for the parcel/current structure(s) where the work will be done.
